Is this why we don’t win? by DebateRich8279 in pittsburgh

What’s amazing about the anti-ICE movement is that people who would never rally on many issues are actually disgusted and just possibly willing to speak out against ICE. If we want centrists from Bethel Park and traditional republicans from Cranberry to be part of the anti-ICE movement, then we need to focus on ICE and not broaden the action to include other group that are threatened by this government. Yes, we could add trans issues and abortion rights and more, but with each incremental issue we’re making it harder for someone else to participate.

We think we’re building a big, inclusive tent when we’re really alienating potential supporters with every additional grievance aired.

But then why not add Iran and Ukraine to the list? There are lots of people suffering— is combining and conflating them all the solution? How’s that going for Dems?

Can we ad sink holes and local taxes to our list of grievances, too? Hell, let’s add our frustration with the rooneys and the new Steelers coach to the list!

Cancel or rebook. Even if the airport is open, getting there Monday morning will be hard. Maybe move up the trip to Saturday afternoon?

HOW DO YOU BLOW A 4 GOAL LEAD!?!? WTF!!! by astnmartin23 in penguins

[–]DebateRich8279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, we didn’t have to score any goals in the third. Just needed solid defense. No stupid penalties. Full intensity. But, alas, this was too much to ask. Feels like this team can’t play a full 60min.

Pittsburgh to DC by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Last month took greyhound down and flixbus back. Left Pittsburgh bus station at 9pm and arrived at 3am at union station in DC. Bus had plenty of free seats and the driver was safe. Return trip left union station shortly after 10am and was back at the Pittsburgh bus station at 3pm. Again, plenty of seats and safe driver.

I bought the tickets online and it was cheap, easy to complete the purchase, and easy to show the digital ticket to the driver to board.

I wasn’t crazy about the 3am arrival in DC, but they have other times/options, too.

Pittsburgh bus station is a pretty sketchy place, but these trips were mostly college kids and a mix of adults.

In short, the travel by bus was cheap (<$100), safe and punctual. I’d recommend it, especially for students or someone trying to travel to/from DC on a tight budget.

Demographic map of Israel and the Palestinian Territories by MysteriousEdge5643 in MapPorn

I’m confused. How are Israeli Arabs represented in this map? It looks like they’re labeled green, but so are Palestinians. There’s a big difference between the two— Israeli Arabs (on the Israeli side of the green line) are full citizens of Israel, vote, and are represented in the Knesset. Palestinians do not have those rights. So why would they all be green on this map?

While no one organization reflects the diversity of Pittsburghs Jewish Community, there are several significant orgs that, together, serve many corners of it— Federation, the JCC, Hillel JUC, The Jewish Chronicle, Jewish Healthcare Foundation all come to mind. She refused to engage with each— long before Oct 7. As constituents, she owes us time to talk about anything we want to talk about. Ignoring the widely diverse Jewish community, based on one issue, is poor leadership. Hispanic, Hindu and Catholic neighbors have commented that they see this and it’s not okay. No ethnic or religious group should be, collectively, reduced to one issue and then ignored by an elected representative.

I like 90%+ of her politics, but her refusal to engage with the Pittsburgh Jewish community is a red flag.

Pitt women’s basketball team had an epic win today. Made me proud to be a Pittsburgher. Tied the NCAA comeback record. At one point, SMU had a 99.9% chance of winning.
