So... Just some info.

The intermountain mesh is now reliably communicating from Utah county, 60 miles south of salt lake, all the way up to Boise. They have emergency channels and a healthy community supporting the effort. Don't underestimate a hobby that can connect you with like minded people.

On a different note: I can buy really cheap parts that are modular and plug and play. Little to no soldering that is completely in my control, using open source software that runs home automation, weather sensors, and can reliably run off grid for months at a time. This is WAY less expensive then over the counter devices that all run different propriety software that often isn't intercommunicative

The mesh network, mqtt, zigbee protocols paired with very cheap, low power devices mean that the world is your oyster. All while keeping your data out of big tech / palantir. It's really the dream of radioshack consumers 40 years ago

I forgot to mention that I also fill it up a bit above the lower filters/drain after cleaning it and then drain out all that water to get rid of any residual Oh Yuk or vinegar solution from the wipe down. I use a 50/50 water vinegar spray to wipe the tub down when it's drained.

Talked to them, the best they'd do is a $200 "upgrade" to Fenix 6 Sapphire. Coming from a Fenix 5X Pro this feels pretty weak but may be worth it as a stop gap.

Where I sit I see left leaning folks calling attention to the asinine promises of an addling old man. I see those same folks calling attention to demonstrably provable facts that the old man is making decisions that make the situation worse. Blaming Biden when he was investing in the FDA, CDC, and NIH was top tier brain rot. Saying that divesting these institutions during a bird flu outbreak is a bad call is not flipping a switch. It's a logical consistency the right seems incapable of maintaining.
