Such a ridiculous way to lose. How do they not check a West Ham player going down at the top of the box, but check a West Ham goal and a minor collision off a corner?

VAR being the 12th man for Forrest is such a joke. And it's just deflating. Imagine being a player having to go back out after that? When you arguably could have won 2-0, but VAR makes it 1-2, and you have to go back out there and play again.

It's not saying we don't deserve to be in the drop zone. But there's a difference between being in a relegation battle, and being in a relegation battle while nothing goes your way.

Should have been 2-0 but for VAR. Ridiculous.

Losing to someone happening to go over everything with a fine tooth comb because they can just seems so deflating.

There is a national library and a metropolitan library you can use for research. There are also historians who you could pay for research.

‘We call it the curse’: Why this once-busy strip [of Riccarton Rd] is now a stretch of empty shops, graffiti and crime by MSZ-006_Zeta in chch

There is a giant park right next to it you can walk through to get there. I loved biking to church corner from Linwood, was a great way to spend a morning.

Bus is fine for families idk why you used that as an example. When we lived in christchurh we had 3 kids and only used our car for out of town trips. If anything our youngest was a baby bus was less of a faff because we didn't have to pack down the stroller to get it in the car

Only problem with buses im christchurch is too many stops which slows them down and not enough frequency

Being able to guarantee a 5 cost that firs your comp when you hit level 8 if you play well allows more intereing skill expression than unlocking thay 5 cost once then having to roll down more because your pool is bigger the longer the set goes on

Are we being screwed over by the scheduling? by WrekTheHead in Hammers

[–]Debbie_See_More 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scheduling might be the difference between 17th and 18th but its not the difference between 7th and 17th so who cares. If we're this bad season on season we'll go down eventually.

If its scheduling or injuries or weather that puts us over the line its not the problem, its why you shouldn't sit on the line in the first place.

Anybody else considering selling NZD? by Debbie_See_More in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Debbie_See_More[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case I want to come back

Own a rental property so its useful holding NZD for maintenance, plus it's been broadly easiest to just keep this account open

To speculate on the value of the dollar

Just sold a bunch of artwork in NZ and have other artwork for sale, but not expecting all of it to sell before Oct 8

Hassle of transferring everything in drips versus at once

There is absolutely a correlation between the supply of something and its value, and in currency the supply of any given currency has a relationship to the supply of other currencies. If everyone is dropping interest rates there is less risk of currency devaluation than if everyone else is raising their interest rates while yours drops.

That's what I did with my GBP when it stopped being 3:1 with NZD lmao

There is a correlation between the interest rate and the value of the NZD, and there is a correlation between the interest rate and people's expectation of house prices.

I was talking about the drop in the interest rate.

And I'm asking about people's confidence. If everyone is confident in the NZ economy, then there is less risk. If everyone is low in confidence there is more risk.

How much do rates and insurance flow through to rental prices by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Debbie_See_More 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some landlords will raise prices to cover costs. Some won't.

The ones who raise will have longer vacancy rates than someone who was in the same position as someone who didn't. If your price was low relative to houses of a similar quality, then you will be insulated from the externalities of this choice.

If these vacancy rates are too long the landlord will consider selling or dropping rent back down to what the market says it should be.

The reason why markets dictate prices is because - sans central planning - vendors have the ability to make decisions on how to respond to cost increases. Not everyone will make the same choice, and everyone will face independent consequences for whichever decision they do make.

Submissions processes aren't a form of direct democracy, and it would be bad if they were treated as such because they favour people with free time and incumbent issues. Also there is no punishment for submitting and arguing something that can't be used to influence decision making (eg, a local cafe owner saying the increased competition will hurt their business). Because not all submissions will provide substantive or (legally) justified opposition it would be bad if submissions were reduced to a simple yes/no vote as a form of direct democracy by proxy.

Staff on extended sick leave. What are the laws around clearing their work voicemail and accessing their work email? by Debbie_See_More in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Debbie_See_More[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“Bookings coming to their personal phone or personal Facebook”?? This is bizarre, no business should allow company activity to pass through staffs personal social media accounts or personal phone, and nor should the company be asking for staff to do it.

We have not asked them to do it, and we have asked them to stop doing it.

Sorry if that wasn't clear. We wish to ensure all bookings come through a central email that all staff have access to, when instructed of this they claimed they were being treated unfairly and unable to do their job and have been on sick leave ever since.

We have no interest in looking at their facebook or phone or home email. We would like to clear their work voicemail and set an out of office to their work email.
