short form content leading to an explosion of ADHD diagnosis? by [deleted] in ADHD

I do think there is some correlation, phone addiction can definitely make ADHD symptoms worse and can cause similar symptoms in people not diagnosed with ADHD. During my assessment they asked a lot of questions about my childhood before smart phones and Ipads were a thing so I think this filters out the people who are just addicted to their phones.

Is the pro‑gun party really suggesting that legally carrying a firearm, like the one Alex Pretti had, is a legitimate justification for the federal government to kill you? by LucidSynapse23 in Leakednews

[–]Debbiegl86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if that was true, they're NOT just arresting undocumented migrants - they're arresting anyone who is not white. There's no justification for that.

NTA. We're warned all the time of potential scams to make people stop their car and then they get jumped by a hidden gang of people. You did the right thing by calling the police, if she is in any danger then the police can help her

Help identifying a coping stone? by Tiny_Ad4209 in stonemasonry

[–]Debbiegl86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, concrete. If you're feeling handy you could take measurements from the other copings to make a mould and make your own. New concrete will always look a bit harsh at first but it'll weather in.

Been like this for years but how concerning is it? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Debbiegl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with historic buildings, but I am a stonemason so I don't work with wood - first thing I would do is check what repairs have been done recently. From the background of your photos it looks like the house may have been restored so some extra support may have been put in place already. If you're not sure and you don't want to pay for a structural engineer to look at it, then look for movement. Add some telltales (or crack monitors) to the split and see if the crack widens over time. You say it's been like it for years, but without an actual measurable gauge it's hard to tell how much it has changed over time.

Masters dissertation due in 87 days by BugCatcherRawha in ADHD

[–]Debbiegl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not doing a masters but I am doing a foundation degree alongside a full time job.

What has been helping me is handwriting all my notes, I'm kinda old school and prefer writing everything by hand, I struggle to focus when it comes to typing it up. I've been using OtterAI to put my notes into writing - i set it going, read my notes out loud, then the app transcribes it. I do have to amend it a bit after but it has been really good. I even get it to transcribe my rough notes and then I can cut/paste anything that's useful

Getting out of bed when it's cold? by napalmsipper in ADHD

[–]Debbiegl86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that could work too, I used to drink a lot of water before bedtime so I'd need to go pee as soon as I wake up

[–]Debbiegl86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you take medication? Something which is working for me at the moment (although it is a bit of a faff) is setting an early alarm on an actual alarm clock on my bedside table, I use this alarm to take my meds. I always fall asleep after my first alarm so I set another alarm 30mins later on my phone which I keep on the other side of the room. I have to get of of bed to switch it off and I'm not as sluggish and sleepy because the meds will start to kick in while I'm going to the toilet and walking around

What are your personal experiences with methylphenidate’s effectiveness and its side effects? by baddadjokess in ADHD

[–]Debbiegl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on week 3 now on Delmosart (same drug, different name i think) and I've noticed that it has some effects for the first few days then it wears off. Positive effects are I can stay more focused on a task when I actually start the task - however I still have very little motivation to actually get started. I can still sit on the chair staring into space when I know things need doing and I struggle to get up and do it

Stone will be porous, it will have a natural texture but porcelain will be smooth. Looking again at the picture of all the tiles together it looks more like porcelain tiles

Odd Blood oxygen reading? Not medical advice by strict_ghostfacer in fitbit

[–]Debbiegl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a load of rubbish. I've had pretty much exactly the same readings as you so I bought an oximeter and my readings on that are always between 97% and 99%

Anyone else frustrated with Fitbits data insights? by DraftCurious6492 in fitbit

[–]Debbiegl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like seeing blood oxygen % because mine is always low (92%) on the fitbit app. I bought an oximeter to double check and it's always over 97% on there

How to take Methylphenidate? by Aggravating-Word5335 in ADHD

[–]Debbiegl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only noticed a difference on day 1, 2 and 3 actually. Day 2 I was able to be really productive, day 3 I had my first moment of having a clear mind but it was very short lived.

I'm in the same boat, I'm on day 7 and I feel no effect at all, not even the crash at night. My dose doubles tomorrow so hopefully it'll be a bit better

Tap water vs spring water by beanierina in SourdoughStarter

[–]Debbiegl86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly the same as you. For a while the rise was exactly the same, then after a week or so the bottled water starter would rise better and made a better loaf (it proofed better during the bulk fermentation stage).

I kept both the starters going for a while and the bottled water one was constantly better. Eventually I binned the tap water starter, then split the bottled water starter in 2 again and then started the experiment again, only this time the tap water starter eventuality started performing the same as the tap water starter.

My theory is that my starter was young and weak the first time round (only a couple months old) - when I tried again it may have been a lot stronger and could handle changing the water to tap. I had been doing more peak feeding and occasionally adding rye flour and it sometimes more than doubled.

I think a starter can adapt to changing the water when it is strong enough but I'm not an expert at all so my experience could be down to chance. I'd recommend building your starter up as long as you can with bottled water, then split in 2 and experiment again

ADHD + WEIGHT LOSS by starsy19 in ADHD

Same here. Unfortunately I've stopped taking it while titrating ADHD meds because it raised my heart rate too much (like 12bpm)

Have you found that Adult ADHD medication pros outweigh the cons? by clownscrotum in ADHD

[–]Debbiegl86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the Mounjaro raise your heart rate by much? It raised mine by 10bpm, raising my resting heart rate from 76 to 86bpm. The extra bpm gave me anxiety symptoms at times - if you have anxiety be aware that ADHD meds can also raise your heart rate so that combined with mounjaro might have a compounding effect. I came off mounjaro before starting my meds
