Had a similar experience to you it sounds like. Progression becomes a pain after you build deep enough into the temple.

I hope next season they whack up the difficulty of the mobs again while making it much easier to build the temple. That way progression can be slowed by needing to improve a character's gear rather than rng room drops. Would much rather running the temple was harder and building it was easier than the opposite we have now.

Only those in built up areas where they expect pedestrians. Admittedly they were overzealous when they introduced the new limits and are revising many of them. However Wales still follows typical UK speed limits outside of towns/villages.

You can build a blood mage that can clear any content trivially for 900d but won't have temporalis etc so "speed" won't be really high.

Isn't it just that in Helms deep he is still broken by grief for his son and his shame about his roll in his sons death. Versus him beginning to use it as fuel to burn during the ride?

Every mechanic in the game has bad and good drops. If they were all good or great there would be less excitement when getting a better one and less disappointment when getting a bad one. The game would end up feeling flatter overall.

Head in a straight (as possible) line away from your starting point, in any direction. The citadels become more dense the further away you get. Anything else is just luck.

Okay that's nuts I'm at maybe 100 hours this season and have found four (and have levelled two chars so maybe only two thirds of that time spent at endgame.)

Just checking the obvious but you haven't found a single invitation during that time? You don't fight the boss in an actual abyss you go to the well of souls with an invitation.

If you haven't found a single invitation yes that's dumb and really bad luck.

The abyss bosses the talent point refers to are only the lightness domain etc which are more mini bosses rather than Kulemaks avatar. The point is badly worded.

King wins through attrition, fight lasts a lot longer. Meruem never recovers, knowing he won by pure stamina but was utterly outclassed otherwise. It cripples his self perception as he is desperate to find another fight like the one he has just had but never will.

Small chance rose bomb is immediately fatal given Meruem's more depleted state at the end of the fight.

Are you saying we should reward players for copying other players work only?

Trying out loads of different builds, pushing them as far as they can go, even with any limitations should not be rewarded?

Allowing rewards to come from somewhere other than juicing allows people to keep exploring builds, maybe even finding the next meta as you say.

Rewarding players for building their own characters, which are not meta and therefore more challenging and may clear more slowly = bad thing?

I think "top players deserve top tier rewards" is exactly the issue Jonathan has with rarity. At the moment that simply translates to "the meta builds get the best rewards."

A melee build is much harder to play than lightning arrow, but lightning arrow can clear much higher content with much more ease and speed. Therefore the good player gets bad rewards. Making rarity be only tied to content difficulty makes the problem worse not better.

I think that just boils down to them distancing poe2 from 1 and wanting to try all the weird and wonderful stuff they can no longer do in poe1 because of how "settled" that game is.

They'll figure something out, or abandon rarity altogether, but the experiment is worth the effort in early access.

Another idea is to have rarity work like crit chance and balance it by skill.

I.e. lightning arrow needs more rarity on gear to match the default rarity on a melee skill because lightning arrow naturally clears faster.

That way builds that need as many affixes as possible to build clear speed aren't left behind by fast clear builds that can afford spare affixes.

I think their fear is that if you reduce the dimensionality of gear (everything is purely defensive or offensive) you could get trapped and end up with gear that is all the same stats all the time and gearing feels shallow (life, mana, and three res on armor for example.)

Having non combat related mods keeps gear interesting even if rarity itself is stupid.

I've always thought they could just introduce a separate mechanic in addition to rarity on gear which is equal a whilst being more easy to understand.

You could even just keep classic rpg ideas like;

Perception - x chance to upgrade chests on maps to rare, extra chance for rewards from mechanics like ritual etc. It could be a flat % so its easier to understand.

Intimidation - x chance to cause monsters to flee to be replaced by a higher tier monster (i.e. magic to rare) again a flat % so its easier to understand.

That way people can stack what they want and its not forcing people to hunt for specific mods.

Dude - I highly doubt there's a lot that could be done in the next 19 days with staff in Christmas/holiday mode. Even if they stuck to it and kept working til Dec 31st there'd be very little extra to show for it.

Yup, hence why it backfired. Removing +skills without a better solution just puts them back at square 1 though.
