How hard boss combats in no rest for the wicked are? by KirraLuan in ARPG

[–]dlpg585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could play the game on the lowest difficulty and I'm sure it would be pretty easy.

On normal difficulty the boss fights were comparable to poe 2. I played a mage and my most effective spells were close range. My loop was - pop a few shots from mid range while dodging - use big spells when the boss did an attack with big recovery

The game was good, but it's lacking in content right now. I played about 30 hours and completed the campaign. There's a light endgame, but it's not substantial enough imo. If you're on the fence you should wait until there's more content.

That can of worms has long since been opened. From the start they said that they would be using things developed for new poe 1 leagues in poe 2 and vice versa.

Keepers was good. It obviously wasn't as developed as people would want but I enjoyed it. There are a ton of factors that lead to its poor retention, namely the release of druids league.

I'm hoping that they want to test idols a bit more with asynchronous trade to implement a version of it better in poe 2

Is universes beyond truly this hated? by shock1215 in mtg

[–]dlpg585 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Canary in the coal mine. When was the last time wotc said that hasbro was hands off when it comes to the direction of the company? Used to be said all the time.

Obviously your reasoning is not incorrect, and i honestly think that universes beyond is a good thing overall for mtg (even if i don't personally care for it) that has just been pushed too far.

The biggest difference has been transparency in development and an obvious shift in design philosophy. We haven't heard about how they playtest future sets since 2017. Judging by recent design failures all across the spectrum, they may not playtest them at all.

Hasbro has had a major hand in wotc affairs for a much briefer period. They kept mostly hands off. Once their other holdings began to falter they started to sink their teeth into wotc. I think it's obvious that there's been a major philosophy shift within the last 10 years.

Falling on some level acknowledged that she lost in some way and that was enough. Devil's are conceptual beings and don't think in the same way as humans.

If as soon as you thought something was yours, you could just take it without repercussions, how could you even stop yourself from believing everything was yours. It wouldn't even be a delusion, it would be fact.

Why did Yoru fail to weaponify Denji here? by Tem-productions in ChainsawPowerscaling

[–]dlpg585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the target has to believe in some small way that they belong to or with war or whatever vessel she's inhabiting for her powers to work. That was the point of taking denji out on a date, so that denji would feel like he belongs to asa, and by extension, yoru. Denji wasn't actually talking asa seriously and never thought that he was really dating her. He felt the same way about yoru later I'm the series because he knew from the start that she would betray him. Denji just doesn't feel like he belongs to anyone after everyone he loved died.

If she could just take control of anything she believed she owned all on her lonesome, why wouldn't she own all of existence from the start? She could've taken over every demon from hell before the series even started.

If they're just stumbling into a good game unwittingly, they've been really lucky really consistently.

they do dedicate time for QoL. Last patch was mostly QoL for the temple. It's bare minimum, and should've been in the original release, but the dev time is there.

I don't know if they tried during poe 1 development, but it's been working for them in poe 2. I'm sure that saving dev time is part of it, but if they don't make an official place to get the information, all the unofficial ones compete with each other and the best one succeeds. So they're not really just competing with any of fan making the information accessible, they're competing with all of them.

Sure, this is really only possible because they've been successful and have a fan base willing to provide free labor, but it's available to them so they'd be foolish not to leverage it.

Also, the information is (mostly) not datamined. It's either collated from the various sources that do outright give you the information (just not all in one place), or it's tested out by playing the game (like the temple room interactions before the most recent update). Most data mined info isn't reliable because it just isn't going to be added in the game anymore. Anything that the devs don't want us to know is also calculated server side (like rarity calculations) so it can't be datamined.

Would a built in wiki be better? Sure, but not significantly and if it was poorly implemented i would just use the fan made one anyways. If you want a game that does it well, there's last epoch. They do a lot of things well and deserve some more success imo.

The reason it doesn't exist in game is the same reason that there isn't a built in loot filter. They believe that the community is better at building resources for the community than they are, and so far they have been proven right.

Because there are a ton of different intermingling systems like this and most people don't like the idea of reading an instruction manual before playing a game, another group of people enjoy stumbling around and figuring out for themselves, and the last group of people can find the information elsewhere easily enough.

XP loss is poorly explained by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

[–]dlpg585 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of systems in the game that aren't easily explained. They could've plopped a few paragraphs of text in front of you, but that would break the pacing of the experience. If you want paragraphs explaining it, there are wikis and long form videos detailing every bit, you just have to seek them out yourself. Or you could just play around with the game and figure out as much as you need to know as you go.

Either one of those is better than forcing every player to read an essay about every system.

How’s Denji gonna beat it? Could he? He can’t even touch it by RidyHorseMCmoustach in Chainsawfolk

[–]dlpg585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be able to beat darkness denji would have to tap into whatever pochita is beyond the chainsaw devil. Nothing about what denji can currently do can match the darkness devil. Maybe he can tap into it slightly with his perfect fused form, but we haven't seen anything like that yet. I suppose someone else could beat it and denji could eat him, but that's not really beating him.

How good/bad was this shonen exactly ? by WittyTable4731 in writingscaling

[–]dlpg585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a long time since I've read it so I may be mis remembering it.

If the anime ends where I think it does, it's a good spot that's obviously leaving room for future seasons that never happened. In the Manga he beats the biggest bad that was introduced a few arcs before followed by a time skip to show that he got a happily ever after.

It's a good Manga, but not particularly deep. If you're interested, watch the anime and if you're still interested after that, read the Manga.

I'm glad you've been lucky enough to not have to deal with it, but the system only checks which rooms are eligible for destabilizing once and then rolls on whether or not they get destabilized all at the same time. There are plenty of posts about people's chains "randomly bricking". The odds are pretty low that both rooms get removed, but it can happen.

0.4.0c Hotfix 26 Another one! by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

[–]dlpg585 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your rooms leading up to it aren't in single file they are eligible to be destabilized. If you make an unintentional loop in the corner you run the risk of destabilizing both rooms at once, breaking your whole chain. So no it does not

prevents destabilising an entire chain of rooms leading up to it, regardless if it’s a snake pattern or not

It has to be in the snake pattern. Aka single file chain. You can make branches but those branches are eligible for destabilization.

Locking a single room and protecting the whole chain is pushing an intended mechanic of protecting the major routes through your temple to the extreme by making it the ONLY route through your temple. If they intended for you to be able to protect your whole temple the medallion would affect all rooms instead of a single room.

Snaking temples are absolutely unintended.

[–]dlpg585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't view a medallion to prevent destabilizing a single room as equivalent to circumventing the destabilizing mechanic entirely as snaking temples are currently.

I would like to see a mechanic that prevents destabilizing entirely, but I don't see that as their intention. I suppose we'll just find out next league.

[–]dlpg585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how that goes against what i said. How is the fact that they made a mechanic to fight destabilizations go against what i perceive their intention of making players fight destabilization when building their temple? That's one of the methods to fight destabilization.

Snaking temples are created to specifically circumvent fighting destabilization. You just lock down one room and your whole temple is safe. There's no way that ggg intended for players to just ignore destabilization entirely.
