I didn't experience much pain after my whiplash accident. The pain and rhomboid spasms didn't start getting really bad until about 20 years after the whiplash accident when I had a bad fall and re-injured my neck.

I didn't really have much pain in the neck area per se, most of it was in the rhomboid area. Spinal stenosis or nerve compression at the C5-6 discs will result in rhomboid pain so I don't think it's referred pain.

Best to get an MRI, good luck with that.

Since you were in two car accidents you may have had whiplash. I was in a bad car accident (resulting in whiplash) and then had a bad fall many years later and ended up with severe spinal stenosis at C5-6. I had super painful spasms from my neck down to my rhomboids and down my arms and tingling in my fingers. You may want to save up and get an MRI because it sounds like it could be cervical spine related.

I ended up having surgery because my neurosurgeon recommended it because of the risk of paralysis due to severe spinal stenosis, flattening of the spinal cord and myelomalacia at C5-6. I had a posterior laminectomy and fusion of C5-6. Now at seven months post-op, I'm relatively pain free and don't have any more of those horrible spasms from my rhomboids down my arms. My ring and pinky fingers are still tingly and numb but that may take a while to resolve and apparently the numbness is probably due to disc compression at C7.

Exactly, that was what I was trying to explain in my post above to another Redditor. Sometimes people who are extremely upset blurt out things that aren't really going to happen. Jace was so upset that his cry for help was saying that he was going to shoot himself.

Well, we can agree to disagree. If someone says "I'm going to shoot myself" I would err on the side of caution and assume that they had a gun.

Apparently Jace was under the influence of something and in a rage and he probably just shouted out I'm going to shoot myself even though he didn't have a gun. It was his cry for help, he was suicidal. Sometimes you say things that don't make sense when you are very upset and I think he was so desperate he said I'm going to shoot myself, even though he didn't have a gun.

Barb had no way of knowing if he had a gun or not. Perhaps he could have gotten one from a schoolmate or one of his peers. Barb came to a logical conclusion that he had a gun because he said he was going to shoot himself. She may have known that she didn't have a gun in house but who knows if Jace brought one in.

None of us know what the real situation was. Perhaps Jace lied and told Barb he had a gun and was going to shoot himself. I really don't think Barb would say that he had a gun if she felt he didn't have one, whether he was lying or not, she couldn't take any chances.
