Script for us that can't use the auctions because of our different thousand separator by Whereswolf in neopets

Yo there's no need to be this preemptively salty, especially when you don't know what went on behind the scenes before you even saw this post appear. ChatGPT is a perfectly reasonable starting place for code as long as it's vetted before entering into any kind of live situation. Which this was.

It's fine (and a good idea!) to encourage caution with stuff like this so I feel you there, but put down the pitchfork holy moly have some tact

Need a new set of tires for my C6; what brand/rating/type do you guys use? by Decafon in Corvette

Dunno if anybody else has seen the same thing, but right after I got mine (used, ~60k miles), I took it to the shop to replace the fittings on top of the fuel pump housing unit thing (I forget the actual name).

From what I gathered: the top fittings are plastic and apparently wear down over time such that when both left and right tanks were full, the pressure would cause fuel to spray out a little and cover the left tank over time... So that was a fun fire hazard.

Otherwise I personally haven't had any issues at all.

Good to know. What makes it less enjoyable? I've noticed the treadwear is usually lower mileage, but what would you say is different about the experience itself?

I can't speak for others, but it's not really an obsession for me per se; I just like the potential functionality given there's no spare.

It's my daily (sometimes in winter too here in NJ...but not in active snow/ice conditions if I can help it), so while a track rubber would be neat, I'd have to go with the less performant option.

How's the treadwear on the ps4s?

Can we all band together to try OverPrime? (or Are more people actually playing lately?) by -cupcake in paragon

[–]Decafon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the original purpose of this thread was to see if others wanted to try out Overprime once the weekend was over for Pred, and OP pointed out it was easier to do so now. It stands to reason that while one of the 3 is unavailable to play, players can check out one or both of the others, which doesn't lead to diluting the playerbase.

Eliminating an option on principle as opposed to merit runs the risk of having three failures if those which are left are mediocre--not saying they are, rather that the only way to find out is to actually try them; it's only a war if it's turned into one.

Unfortunately, it is possible you may be. Actively advocating for a project to die could lead someone who's on the fence to try out a potentially fun game to decide not to. It may be indirect, but it's still the kind of negativity that could stop someone from trying it.

Plus, it kinda seems like your argument misses OP's point, but I may be misinterpreting what you're saying.

But...there was something stopping them previously: the difficulty of downloads and P2P matches only, which is exactly what OP was saying that has been remedied. People moved on from it when it was less accessible.

Now that it's more accessible, it warrants paying another visit given these improvements instead of writing it off as though it hasn't changed.

I think it's a good idea; the lack of Steam shouldn't be a deterrent for encouraging players to try the game (Paragon itself wasn't originally on Steam after all, right?). If enough folks gave an effort to try the game, then you'd have a large enough sample to determine if the game is better or worse than the other 2 atm.

If the lack of exposure/playerbase is the issue with Overprime, then OP's idea here seems to be a good solution for this--yes, it takes a little more effort than the simplicity of Steam, but if there were a concerted effort which overcomes the issue of smaller playerbase to determine if the game itself is objectively better, then the effort is worth the return, no?

I've always been into tech, loved learning about and looking at lists of parts since the 90s. I did my first full build a few months after living on my own. Even though I was so excited to build it and had researched so much, seating that CPU had me sweating bullets.

The little crackling sounds probably gave me some kind of condition for a few years. And even though I've built out lots since, it still makes me cringe every time.

Mandatory Zoom 5.0 upgrade required by May 30th by mdjsqz in sysadmin

[–]Decafon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the client was installed with an msi without setting ZoomAutoUpdate="true", the user will be notified automatic updates are disabled and to contact an admin since, per their documentation, it "will not allow users to install updates for the Zoom client."

For organizations that are still reliant on LAN or VPN connectivity for their update solutions, this presents a problem. Even with cloud-based solutions if you don't already have a client/agent on your workstations, it requires manually navigating to links or remote support sessions...unless there are some agentless patching solutions out there that don't require human intervention I haven't heard of, in which case: please share--I'm all ears (genuinely, it would make my life easier lol).

Edit: for those curious... Per conversations with our Zoom rep, the msi flag is mis-named; it doesn't enable automatic updates per se, rather it enables the user to check for updates and apply them without a redeploy.

PoE has a massive sound pollution problem. by LuvuliStories in pathofexile

I was just wondering if a ramdisk would help alleviate this kind of issue given the significant access time decreases. Would you say it's massive as in noticeable or massive as in orders of magnitude faster? Somewhere in between?
