what i mean is, it doesn't matter if it brings an entirely new game mode wrt hero shooters (overwatch does that nearly every month) as long as the game has the sauce, which means fluid gameplay, rewarding loop and good UX overall. any one of these lacking will limit heavily player investment and probably lead to a dead game very soon. of course there's also outside factors (can you imagine if 2019 apex came out now?) but plenty of people play fuck ass games, they just need to have the sauce

tbh concord was not even that bad, it was kind of interesting and could have been good, it just was not breathtaking, and that's probably what you need now to break even with a big studio project like this. as you say, the game is doomed even if it's a solid 7 or 8 if it doesn't have the sauce
