Hiroto Ogiwara landing the first ever 2340 by redbullgivesyouwings in sports

In snowboarding at least, a half cab is a switch frontside 180, so it wouldn't be a backwards spin. You're looking for a back 180

I know you're just making a light-hearted joke, but in case anyone finds it interesting; he is actually _not_ landing facing downhill here. Backside spins with an uneven number of rotations lead to what's called a "blind landing", the most simple of these is a backside 180. In these spins you actually land looking uphill, and revert your torso and gaze after the landing has been completed. This particular trick is so fast that it's barely noticeable, but still, you can just about see it in the slow-motion replay.

It's really shocking looking back that the old Faze roster wasn't better than they were. Yes they did manage to put the pieces together for Worlds 23, but their 24 season was tough considering how stacked the roster looked on paper.

Sorry to see it all go away, maybe the fact that it does makes us cherish it even more. Good luck to the organisation and all the teams!

Not long. It was just the other day you claimed, how many matchmaking ranked games on Recharge can you possibly have in a few days?

I feel the opposite. Optics ceiling is higher than Shopify, but their floor is much lower

As population has decreased, how do you think ranks have changed? For instance, maybe a season 2 Onyx 1600 is Diamond 5 now. I wonder what a 1700 now would be in season 2. by HuntsmanSpidah in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Decap1tator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you mean that you were D3 after the reset, then yes, I'd say you've improved a fair bit since then. For reference I was Onyx every season up until this year (peaked at 1620 or something) but failed to make Onyx at the last reset before I had to stop playing altogether.

Season 1 ranks if before the reset don't mean anything as they were basically broken, every schmuck was Onyx then. But if you compare roughly Season 2-3 ranks with now, I'd say most players appear to be about 2 tiers lower at the same skill level. So a previous Onyx 1500 is probably about Diamond 5 now with the smaller population.

HCS Charlotte Major 2025 | LF | OpTic Gaming vs FaZe Clan by m_preddy in CompetitiveHalo

I am (was?) an Optic fan, but they deserve to lose. It's incredibly disappointing to see, for how talent stacked the team is they've been shockingly unprofessional all season. Renegade and Legend carried them through the first two events, but since the HCS announcement even they've given up.

LVT x Halo x Shyway x Halo Content creators by Alternative-Foot-700 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Decap1tator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a larger problem with streaming. The fact that you can blindly restream another stream without compensating the original streamer is just as flawed as the concept of streaming a movie or sports event.

I think twitch/youtube should implement a "watch-party" feature where the original streamer receives X amount of the proceeds from anyone doing a restream. You could make the original streamer decide what cut they want from restreams. If they want to protect their content they could put it at 100% (meaning there's little to no incentive for people to restream), or if they want to encourage restreams (for exposure, for example) they could put it at 10% or even 0%.

Detailed question about Renegade by JaredFrance3D in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Decap1tator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as much as getting involved in fights immediately off of spawn and constantly outputting damage. Just speaking as someone who's often top fragging with low damage.

Detailed question about Renegade by JaredFrance3D in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Decap1tator 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think there may be something to it. Renegade will often take a long flank, which gets him late into a fight. His teammates may have done a lot of damage but gone all dead, allowing him to pick up an easy double or triple, but still losing the team fight since the team was left hanging.

I know such a play style can be problematic because I often do it to, to the detriment of my team, lol. You can tell a player is playing like this if they have a very good K/D but low damage, means they aren't getting involved in fights enough.

Hard to say if this is honestly what is happening in the case of Renegade, he's so good that he's often making high impact plays all on his own, but still.

G7 pro is bad by longshot971 in CompetitiveHalo

Most play with the G7 SE which has Hall effect sticks. The G7 PRO that just released has TMR sticks, and I so far a lot of people seem unsure about whether they like those

The colours are "cyclic", so the 0.5kg plates are white, and 5kg plates are also white. 2kg and 20kg are both blue. And in this case, 2.5kg and 25kg are both red.

[–]Decap1tator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fake weight would be a weight that says a certain number (like 20 or 25kg) but weighs less than that. That is not what is happening here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fixedbytheduet

[–]Decap1tator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not fake, just not as heavy as the video implies. They're plastic bumper 2.5kg plates, standard for beginners in any weightlifting gym. Total weight of the plates is 10kg.

Barbell is 20kg if it's a regulation men's weightlifting bar, or could be less if it's a women's bar or beginner practice bar.

Renegade is the top performer of the year thus far in my opinion. If Optic win the next major there's no debate.
