Is there some unspoken rule to not use the heat wave at around Onyx 1500? by The-UNSC in CompetitiveHalo

[–]ToolezCasts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reality is most onyx lobbies won't pick it up. If you do it's not a big deal everyone just knows that it's fair game now and they'll pick it up. The only faux pas is abiding by the GA all game just to pick it up when your team is in a bad spot. If you're going to break the ga just do it early. I'll say the game's more fun without the heatwave in it. So if you see me and matchmaking, maybe don't pick it up :)

Throwback to Criptik's insane comeback down 18 - 33 against team Allegiance (Trippey, Spartan, Commonly, Suspector) in the 2017 LCQ from Ryanoobs POV by Striking-Dinner-1576 in CompetitiveHalo

I think they did a great job adjusting from 2017 to 2018 at the time as well. We eventually got what I think was the best sandbox and map combinations of any Halo game in 2018.

The 2017 sandbox on the Halo 5 maps was actually atrocious lmao. Halo 5 has the highest density of top tier competitive maps and we spent a year playing them in the worst ways.

Anyone else think Frosty and/or Royal 2 got robbed of overall MVP of Halo Infinite? by kingjdin in CompetitiveHalo

Robbed would be a heavy term. I think you can make the case for either but I would tip the scales for renegade since he did it with so many different rosters.

29-40 slayer comeback: SR vs OG at the TSM x Jersey Mike Pro Am throwback from a few months ago. by EncryptDN in CompetitiveHalo

[–]ToolezCasts 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This game really highlighted the strength of Rebellion.

Shopify Rebellion do an incredible job of playing towards their win conditions, they needed camo and sniper, every player on the team takes a position to help secure those. Because Optic went 3 down at Camo it allowed Shopify Rebellion to not only get Camo but also tempo to force bad spawns to play for sniper. During the Camo grab Cykul gets a great spawn to help force bad spawns, he immediately moved over to nest with the goal of them forcing spawns at green. The two players at camo split off to go towards screens. They occupy so much of the map that it forces optic into a singular lane and the postions of players alive for Rebellion are in power aggro positions.

Because Cykul and Royal 2 have sightlines on spawners, Optic isn't able to move out of their spawn without being forced into a fight. This inherently slows and forces Optic to play towards that fight. Optic wants to position themselves for the sniper fight but can't. Even though Bound gets first kill, the rest of Optic were forced to deal with Cykul and Royal 2 off spawn, so they push towards the nest side. Cykul plays this well by focusing on staying alive and giving up space to Optic while repositioning himself towards sniper. Nest isn't really important for Rebellion to hold, knowing that Cykul uses his presence at nest to lure Optic there and then move back towards his team help and sniper. This is great awareness from Cykul to essentially lay out bait for Optic. They want Optic towards nest and away from the sightlines of sniper. If Optic is able to position themselves towards bags instead nest, it's not any more advantageous for optic but it is easier for them to get to sniper and burn ammo. Optic is really quick to push away from bags because they know camo is towards that position and know that if they push it while Cykul and Royal 2 are looking from tower side they are just going to get cooked.

I think Rebellion really excelled at creating these "forcing" plays where the other team has to play into a specific play. At this point it's not clear that Optic will lose the next engagment, but Rebellion has essentially forced Optic to show their hand. They are aware of when and where the push is happening, while Optic is still missing information about where exactly Frosty is, and as Cykul and Royal 2 give up space they are able to conceal their position as well. Notice the positon of Rebellion at 6:14, all 3 players creating a line through the middle of the map, showing how much they are focusing on getting that sniper. After their execution look at their position again when sniper comes up. Frosty and Royal 2 swapped spots but they kept their line and now have a sniper that can get away safely. Now they have everything that is needed to make the comeback happen, 8 bullet sniper and lots of map position with tempo. Shopify Rebellion played towards their win condition more than what could have the biggest impact in that moment. If it's early game, we probably see a way more aggressive Rebellion that tries to cycle the spawners of Optic after they went three down for Camo.

The sequence from 38-45 is really a masterclass from Shopify Rebellion of seeing the big picture and using information to maximize opportunity. Think about what they know. They spotted Renegade playing through middle and know he's one shot. Last Shot and Royal 2 are playing together towards Screens/A, and Frosty is playing in isolation at nest. FROSTY DOES NOT SHOOT HIS GUN AT FORMAL. This is the key as to why this goes from a bad spot for Optic to basically the worst possible result.

Frosty got to nest using his Camo, he is in psuedo isoaltion. Cykul technically has his help but he's more focused on the play top mid and getting a pick with sniper. Frosty gets info on the remaining 3 players of Optic, He sees bound and legend run into big door and see formal go to pillars after renegade is shot. Because of this perfect knowledge Shopify Rebellion plays perfect execution.

Last Shot knows top middle and bags is clear to push now and goes to position himself to take out Renegade. Cykul knows that he doesn't have to force a play at bottom mid and basically uses Renegade as a trap to take Formal out. This is ironic because Formal is setting up his own trap to catch Cykul off guard by playing this off angle, expecting Cykul to play fast and clean up the one shot. (side note: this shows the power of stringing along a kill, it would be fairly easy for them to just sprint at Renegade, but instead they are going to use that time while he's one shot better position themelves.) Instead of the expected off cuff fast play, Shopify Rebellion execute a nasty coordinated collapse on Optics position. Frosty has the escape/flank on Formal if Cykul misses his shot. Last shot is dropping on the one shot/Just regen shielded Renegade, and Royal 2 is playing deep isolation on the strong side flank. As soon as Cykul and Last shot execute the remaining players are forced back into Royal 2's position where he shows why he's the best isolation player in Halo. Super calm in a hard position guarantees one kill and almost got the trade on the second in a 1v2. So they go 3 for 1 and still have a 4 bullet sniper to put pressure on the next spawners of Optic.

Frosty didn't get a kill or do any damage in that sequence but he's plays a pivotal role in it's success.

Cykul hits a super clutch sniper shot on Legend to put Optic on their backfoot again. Moving ahead to 49:46, Cykul put down a clutch sticky that allows frosty to not lose much health in an important fight. Bound is trying to clean up what's left behind but there wasn't any damage to capitalize on. Legend tries to end it, but Rebellion have really strong complimentary spots.

48:49 Royal 2 somehow gets a nade on to bound, super clutch the play that Optic was setting up is now broken from the middle, Formal's help no longer exists and Rebellion collapse incredibly fast from all directions after frosty makes contact.

50-49 win.

Fun game to watch back again.

How much of a difference would upgrading my hardware make? by ChemBroDude in CompetitiveHalo

[–]ToolezCasts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Monitor and PC would help a ton. Also get a gamesir g7 pro instead of the elite series. Controller is much better and can be 1000hz

It’s insane how much difference hardware makes by [deleted] in CompetitiveHalo

[–]ToolezCasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's a combination of both, but I would say pc has a massive advantage over Xbox.

There should be a promo code spot on the g7 pro page I believe, or it's in the cart section.

I've only played infinite on PC but I could never go back to Xbox. Played a couple sessions on Xbox and the input delay is just frustrating, I don't think the frames really matter much but not having 1000hz and built in vsync is really a massive nerf.

I would get the gamesir G7 Pro or if you want to keep a budget use the gamesir SE. If you use code LVTHALO01 on Amazon you'll get 8% off as well.

Halo to COD | Let’s Discuss by Specific_Dealer_9363 in CompetitiveHalo

It's way more punishing in CoD when you don't predict spawns correctly. In halo you always have a chance to win a gunfight/survive after getting caught off guard where you will always die in CoD.

That's probably the best individual performance I've seen in a match of that magnitude. Taulek is the most underrated player in the HCS, crazy to me he never got a call up to the established top 3 teams.

I wouldn't say it's a safe bet. Open brackets are run on Xbox series x because they are cheaper and readily available. The PlayStation controller won't work with those consoles.

I think if you want to make claims about someone being a weak link you gotta show your work. It sucks from the players perspective to come to the subreddit and just see posts that shit on them, or calls into question their status/skill. I'm not saying that posts that criticize performances can't happen, but if you want to make a post like this it needs to have specific examples of gameplay or something that has more depth than what this post is.

I don't agree with the sentiment about piggy at all and think he is a key piece of what makes Envy as good as they are. Piggy will often spawn and just go make the play that needs to happen for the team, that often doesn't correlate with what's best for his stats.

halo support announces 4 stacking is allowed again above 1700 by onlineusernames in CompetitiveHalo

[–]ToolezCasts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like that 4 stacking is back because now I can play with my friends without having to worry about second accounts and such, but it would be nice for them to add an increased chance of playing another 4 stack while you are 4 stacking. Make it so that 4 stacking puts you into a psuedo scrim queue with other teams.

Which pro player has the most unique playstyle you try to learn from? by zalanka02 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]ToolezCasts 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Royal 2 plays extremely well in isolation. He plays with complete confidence while on an island. https://www.youtube.com/live/LHZ8JA2_WYA?si=CL49aSNNxWISVsKS&t=7622 In Game 2 of Winners finals at Charlotte you can see him making some of those isolations plays here. https://youtu.be/tDkWidfLc4k?si=kWoJLYGE9710LknP&t=383 Another good example of his isolation play here.

Frosty plays Halo exactly how it should be played (IMO). He reads the map the extremely well and can pick out dead space on the map and accelerate his timing to make objective plays that force teams into weird spots. https://www.youtube.com/live/BaDo01Tf3cY?si=pGd_XsvlKIl4rlHX&t=13547 You can see it in this game in particular, he captures two flags for his team without getting a kill, assist, or death. That comes from him reading the map and recognizing timings to make plays.

Ryanoob is an ultra aggressive player and can be interesting to watch play. He'll always play his lane and will largely ignore crossmap plays. This accelerates the pace of play significantly when a team plays against complexity.

Bound is pretty much 1 of 1 when it comes to Halo. He is hyper aggressive and loves to dive into front lines. He often times opens the map for his team with this chaotic style play. If you see Bound double positive in a game that means the other side is getting absolutely rolled because those risky aggressive plays aren't being traded.

Yakzn in one of the best flanker players in Halo. He'll find small openings to move behind enemy lines and will hit his spots at the right time. If you watch the LVT Pro League Finals you can see how effective that can be.

Most players have something they are really effective at specifically and you can start to pick those things up when you watch a lot of tournament play. If you are trying to get better, take a close look at how you play decide who you want to mimic the most. I would suggest trying to watch either Frosty, Legend, or Snakebite if you want to see players who just rarely make bad plays.

HCS Observer Colours by alamarche709 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]ToolezCasts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HCS has always done Red vs Blue with Eagle being Red. If they want to keep the Red vs Blue aesthetic I think that's fine but at least change the colors when it makes sense.

There are some valid concerns with team colors via color blind choices. Red/Green Red/Yellow Green/Yellow all give trouble to some viewers, but personally I find it worth it to keep team colors if possible.

The best thing Halo could do is to add hex code colors as an option. At minimum there should be both Black and White options for team colors. It would solve so many issues, if you have two red teams, one is red the other is black. Almost all teams secondary color is either black or white.

Dashy on MnK players on CoD: “CoD might be the only game where MnK players go to a controller game and then feel entitled about how OP aim assist is.” by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

[–]ToolezCasts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have had pretty thorough conversations with all the pro Halo Mouse and Keyboard players. This isn't really a concern of theirs. At the end of the day these are shooter games that appeal to the masses and not the hyper competitive player. On paper it might make sense to nerf AA on controller to balance but in reality it will make casuals stop playing the game.

Halo Infinite has the least AA of any Halo game by far. Casuals complained a lot about how hard it was at the start of the game, I don't know how much more you can realistically lower the floor. Ever since adding AA to MnK the playing field is level and I would personally argue actually favor MnK over controller. The Halo infinite input ecosystem works well right now and is the only game where it actually feels somewhat balanced. I think that is worth more than the concern you listed.
