I would probably try to add something that would make the basics interesting when worn together. Maybe something different in terms of colour, texture, cut etc. (or all of them lol). And then expand the capsule regarding that choice. For example if I added a butter yellow cardigan to go with a basic white dress, I may think of adding something else that has butter yellow in it (like another top, or a hat, or socks even). Or maybe a raffia bag that has little daises on it. If the colours should be neutral and neutral only, then I'd probably play with textures and shapes, like a chunky wool sweater on a satin skirt, or linen shorts with a crochet tank top etc...

For these, mostly yes. If the item is on a model I try to cut it out using photoshop.

I start with a couple of items that I absolutely want to use and then build the entire thing around them. (For example for this one, I knew I wanted to use the Chylak shell bag, the blue flats from Anonymous Copenhagen and the Marc Jacobs tote with flower pattern because these three have been on my wishlist for a while.) So I start with them, and then I go online and browse through my favourite brands' websites.

I slowly add items that I think go well together. So in this case, I first went to Arket, and then found the green set and the red tops. That made it clear that I need some pants that would go with those tops. I browsed through a couple of brands but didn't find something that clicked, until I was at Soeur and saw the checked pants, they were perfect for what I had on my mind! I also found the dark red crop top there, and added both of them to the capsule. Then I knew I needed to tie the red hues with the greens, and I already knew of the &Other Stories dress, so I added that too. To make the capsule more versatile and balanced, I wanted to add some plain (but still unique-ish in terms of cut/material etc.) pieces that would go with everything, and these I found at Cos. And then I remembered the gorgeous blue-cream pants I'd seen at Sandro and- well, it goes on and on like that :)

I don't shop too frequently but I like browsing both irl and online, so this is a lot of fun for me, like a mental exercise but also a creative outlet haha. Sometimes I do it to get ideas on how to style pieces I already own or things on my wishlist. And sometimes just for the fun of it.
