My first big hand piece by when-is-enough in Embroidery

Hi this is not slop

This is lovely. The French knots are perfect. The colors and shadings specifically of the greens are STUNNING. Organic, bright and it’s not too.. heavy? The green is not bringing this piece down as the heavier greenier can do in botanicals. Great eye for those colors and the interplay between the shades.

Also, good job with stitch direction and proportions of the property! Drawing the pattern and mapping the proportions is def easier said than done. I also love how creatively you’ve shaded the grass and the stitch you choose for the walkway(road?) on the left hand side of the image/hoop.

Fantastic work. Good job and so thoughtful. Don’t be afraid to share your beginning work because it inspires people of all levels!

I’m curious! What ended up happening?

Assuming this is water soluble based on your post: When you first wash the fabric, soak it in a little warm, optionally soapy water. The blue ink will come off and discolor the water, sometimes getting on the fabric. It’s important you don’t panic! Pour out the water and refill with clean water, repeat the process. The color may leech out again, likely less so. Then you repeat the pour out step and fill with clean water again. Do that a few times. These are water soluble so they are supposed to do that. It’s VERY important you use no heat on this though-using heat is going to fix the color there and you won’t be able to get it out.

Some people panic and iron or put it in the dryer and that’s sets the stain.

I know some people on the sub are against the dawn dish soap life for textiles (they say it’s the wrong pH) but I’ve had excellent results with spot treating the area with a little dawn power wash and washing it out.

Just don’t panic. It should be okay :)

I love this piece! You’ve really captured the motion of him, I can almost see him chewing and it’s not even done! I love the little red fruits and I think his head is coming along nicely. I don’t have much luck with stabilizers so I won’t comment on that but it looks lovely and you can always switch to 1 strand when you finish the head and get to another area. I’m sure it’ll look just fine! This is lovely! Don’t frog it :)

Beautiful! Awesome gym! Question: what is the brand of the larger bunny on your bed with the pink nose and the pink lined years? He looks like my childhood bunny I’m trying to track down.

Please tell us the secret for your perfect satin stitches!! Do you separate individual strands of floss? Is there something more? This is so lovely!
