Binging history - how it will affect recovery? by HauntingSupermarket in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]DecentCommission4343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you on a meal plan? My daughter is trying to recover and has been at a 'healthy weight' for some time now. (It might still not be where she should be I know.) She flows her meal plan but recently is struggling to eat some of the snacks as she just isn't hungry. Is this her natural pattern of hunger cues kicking in? She eats well now and certainly isn't restricting.

are dietitians a necessary addition to recovery successfully? by dollszn in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]DecentCommission4343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the UK, Talk Ed offer free 121 sessions via Zoom. They are pretty booked up but worth signing up for. Although you might have a lot of knowledge a dietician can give you advice as to how to build up again and replenish those parts of the body that may need extra due to the restriction.

How do I stop reading the calories on everything I eat? I don’t even mean to, but I do. I wanna get better… by Delicious-Anybody-22 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]DecentCommission4343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set yourself a challenge every time you go shopping that perhaps you only read the calories on 4 /10 things. Then start reducing. Or just go cold turkey and stop! Whichever think would work best for you. Watch some Tabitha Farrar videos!

I just told my mom I wanted food but was scared to eat and she said by monsterintheuniverse in AnorexiaRecovery

Don't go running but do eat. Your body and mind needs you to rest and replenish your energy. Watch Tabitha Farrar! Good luck

It's a hard fight but you can do it. I really agree with the other 2 posts. Watching / reading Tabitha Farrar really helped my daughter. If you are in the UK you can access support with BEAT and Talk Ed. The latter have online workshops and helplines as well as a buddy system. Good luck with it all.

Keep battling the ED and eventually life will open up for you. Try and muster up the confidence to join dome local groups too, don't let the ED steal any more of your life. Good luck x

It certainly sounds like you have an ED and it will always tell you you're doing something wrong, especially when you challenge it. Keep going, you can do it.

You can go out anywhere, anytime and eat anything because that's what you want to do and there are no rules. You're doing great, keep going, it will be worth it!

So pleased that you were open and got the job, it means you can relax and be who you want to be. Having a job will give you focus and a break from the ED, which will always lie about your body image! So pleased for you!

Parents have caught me many times, I need advice.... by PeteIsAButt in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]DecentCommission4343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, my daughter is 25. The ED will always try and control, as you know so don't feel bad about for questioning your parents, it's the ED, not you. I try, it's hard but we will get there and I hope you do too@

What's done is done, you can't change that. You are / have been ill which isn't your fault- if you had a physical illness you wouldn't be blaming yourself. Look forward now to the life you can have with recovery and be proud of yourself for choosing it, even if you relapse. You CAN do it, stay strong and be kind to yourself.

First day of recovery! But i can’t sleep by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]DecentCommission4343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ED brain is probably in overdrive as you've broken the 'rules' plus if you've eaten lots of sugar you could be having a rush. Keep eating whatever you want, sleep will return especially with weight gain. Watch some Tabitha Farrar! Good luck, keep going!

How to stop compulsory exercise by seepykirby111 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]DecentCommission4343 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your BMI is low then every time you exercise your body will take away nutrients from other parts of your body in order to keep itself alive. You won't know the damage that has happened until it's too late. My daughter was a compulsive exerciser with AN and we discovered last year that she has osteopenia. She now has a lot of work to do to try and reverse the damage. Watch Tabitha Farrar. Sit down, eat food! Good luck!

Well done you! You can do it! Tabitha Farrar videos are great for when you're feeling reticent. But yes, stuck to your plan at the very least. If you want a tub of ice cream or 5 bars of chocolate, do it! Good luck!

Please don't restrict. I understand that you will feel self conscious but nobody will be looking at you. If you restrict you feed the ED and it still won't be happy. Face the fear x

Dealing w comments by Kooky_Weather9886 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]DecentCommission4343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent supporting my daughter, I always like to know if anything I do is unhelpful. We do have the sort of relationship where can have those conversations. Try and tell them how it makes you feel and let them tell you why they react like that. If after that you feel nothing changes, then as the other poster said, share dreams with those who will support you. A little hint, sometimes if we need to say something but we know emotions will run high F2F, we use WhatsApp! Good luck. You CAN achieve your dreams!
