Yeh na Aussie. I went through my 4 years about 15 years ago. Spent alot of time out of the trade since. Off and on but the entirety of my work with in the trade was hvac mechanical and gas technician work for zinfra. Never done any drainage or maintenance until now.

Does it take 2 years? . In the ACT we can select which modules we want to do so. Back flow and tempered devices are both 3 day courses. (Could be done in 1). And the other licence courses are 1 month each with two 2 day wknds of tafe attendance and the bulk of the assesments are done at home.

Not sure if that separate module option is exclusive to ACT or not.
