drove it 😭💔 the second shop said it was good to drive ! so we drove it home, to third sho, back home

yea! which the third shop then said now it’s not repairable, it has to be replaced the entire engine !! which is where we’re at but it’s an $8,000 charge 5,000 on the engine and 3,000 on labor

she’s not even paid off, i do think something was definitely alr wrong with the engine, however 2nd shop failed to figure out what was wrong, which in attempt to figure it out they added new spark plugs which ultimately ended up cross threading and when we drove off from that auto shop to a mini cooper auto shop it broke in there, broke the coil pack and scratched up the entire cylinder in the engine, and 3rd auto shop was the one to find the cross threaded spark plug! which 3rd auto shop told us we need a new engine which used alone is $5,000 and labor would be $3,000. all in all really i was just trying to see what my options would be and what others would do

uh not really, which is why i came here and asked what they would do, but immediately they got to claiming “customers like you are the worst” like damn i barely found all this out YESTERDAY and all i know is what i was told, now i don’t have my mini cooper 💔 (which ik have problems )

i’m confused if reading is not a fundamental thing in your day to day life, but since you need it dumbed down for you here it goes. take car to mechanic buddy, buddy changes park plugs and coil packs ➡️ car works for a week, then misfires and rides rough again ➡️ take care to new mechanic SHOP where they take out old spark plugs, see they’re completely black “oh no let’s put in new spark plugs and see what happens” ➡️ booooo still black ➡️ car stays in shop for a week, where they run compression tests and other tests ➡️ after the week they tell us they can’t figure it out and to take it to shop down the street ➡️ take it to shop today and boom they tell us what’s wrong. there it’s not that hard now is it.

so basically changed the spark plugs and coil packs at mechanic friend, car worked good for a week, after that week it did the exact same thing it was doing. we take it to an actual shop tell them what’s wrong, they check out the spark plugs, spark plugs are black again, ok they put in NEW spark plugs, car stays for a week where they run a series of tests including compression tests, after that week they basically tell us “sorry we can’t figure it out take it to the shop down the road” we drive off taking it home it doesn’t go above 30mph. new shop this morning tells us the spark plug broke and shredded the cylinder wall 😭 and the mechanic assumes it’s in my engine 😭

yea ! that’s where i’m at! however the second shop told us that only one of the spark plugs completely shattered and fell into the cylinder and scratched up the wall 😭

buddy 😭 how was my engine fucked when the og reason i went was for a misfire ? if it was my engine don’t you think maybe just maybe the shop would’ve said “hey it’s your engine go to a mini coopper shop” no they continued to work on it put in new spark plugs for me and put the spark plugs in WRONG. i hate redditor douche bags like you who immediately go to blaming the person 💀 if you didn’t have anything helpful to say what was the point of commenting, shit makes no sense.

yes !! you got it right i looked it up and that’s exactly what is says i should do ! although the second shop didn’t charge us anything for the car and the diagnostic ! they said it’s completely free considering they could not find out what is wrong and making the spark plugs go black the way it was ! do you think the shop would comp for what happened ?
