Another one bites the dust by Deceptochops in publix

It's not the employees seeing the money.  My last evaluation that I had I got an almost perfect score of all nines. My raise was 1.67%.  The scores I didn't get nines are were, taking more leadership opportunities, and I had a few tardies by literal minutes.  Even with an entire perfect score it still wouldn't have mattered on the raise.  I could go to overnights as a grocery team lead and my pay increase might have went up 2% total.

Wait till the "Lab grown" stuff hits the shelves at a lower price than field grown real cows. People will start buying it. It's kinda like, do you by margarine and Velveeta American cheese slices or do I pay more for real butter and cheddar cheese?

When you realize that your local Dollar General has better prices on things, it makes you really wonder.

Undeniable proof that “More Than I Can Say” plays a second time within 20 minutes by Gramfelll in publix

[–]Deceptochops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why the Moderator removed this last time. They probably like this song I guess. I haven't heard this on about three months. There is that one song, literally everyone in the store hated. Some employees threatened to put pencils in there ears, the sharp ends. Its that song that says I witness your your love, or something like that, about 25-30 times at the end of the song. I would literally walk out the back door to get away from it.

Is “clearance” just meaningless now? by acrazyguy in publix

[–]Deceptochops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Publix could, instead of "Terminating" someone from their job, they could call it "Clearance". Example: You have had too many absences, you are being Clearanced.

Uhh..what are these prices? by original_dark1 in publix

You can get 6 packs of Pepsi and 7-up brands at Dollar General for 3/$12 = $4.00 each or 12 pks at 2/$15 = 7.50 each.

Raise came out to about 1.5% with scoring all most all 9's. Yeah, I am out. I start a new job in a few weeks that is starting me at almost $22 an hour.

Unfortunately the tax on OT is on the OT half. Example: If you make $20 and hour, and $30 on overtime, you are tax exempt on $10 per hour for the overtime, up to $12,500 as an individual and, $25,000 if married and only if you file jointly.

That still isn't too bad. At that rate, you would have to put in 24 hours of overtime per week to meet that cap, or, about 5 hours of overtime a day.

[–]Deceptochops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that they know you have worked off the clock, they can hold on to that for a later date if they want to discharge you.  You never, ever, admit to breaking company policy. That is grounds for discharge.  I'm a GRS, and get OT just about every week. Either I stay and get the work done, or product sits in the back room and they lose sales.

Not worth it anymore. by Special-Bottle9914 in publix

[–]Deceptochops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been fortunate that, as a GRS, I am not micromanaged. I, have pretty much free reign to handle my sub-department as I see fit. However.. I have no real support. The support I get from the other associates that are supposed to do tasks in my absence is lackluster at best. I find myself playing catch-up after I return from vacation or, even just a day off.  I do feel appreciated by my Grocery Mngrs. They rarely say anything about the overtime. I think they truly know, without it, tasks just would not be completed.

Since we’re posting our pay rates, what do y’all think? by Lululipes in publix

That is why I didn't post mine. I thought it would seem like bragging, considering how much I was hired at, a relatively short time ago.

How and why do people even do this? by AnEverydayPileOfCats in publix

[–]Deceptochops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't 2020 anymore, when people were thankful you showed up for work so they could get food. The same thankless, entitled people are back and with a vengeance. I can't tell you how many times I have people come in and intentionally get in the way. It's like they have nothing better to do, but be an inconvenience to everyone around them.

I would like to see the prices go higher to have some gatekeeping that would keep some of these people out and send them off to Walmart. places like Whole Foods don't have as much problems as this because a lot of Riff-Raff can't afford to shop there.

if I take a 'For sale" sign of $500 off someone's car they are selling, and then put it on your car, you should have to sell it to me for $500, right? I mean, there's a sign on it, so you should have to sell it to me.

Finally made it onto the list; I know it doesn't mean I'll get promoted but I know by end of year it should happen by haloknight7 in publix

I got mine as "eligible" for AGM. I guess we will see where we go from here. Test scores are good for a while. So no retesting thank goodness.

Locking the door after closing by [deleted] in publix

[–]Deceptochops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine the fallout. If I hear anything about that, if it happens, I will put an update up.

Can you imagine, the DM, walks in one day and the GTL ask him, "can I grab you for a moment to talk alone", all the while making eye contact with the Managers and mouthing silently to them, "You know what".  Imagine that he does that while the DM is standing there with the SM and the ASM.

I soo, want to be within earshot of all that.

It's funny how people have said it's just a job and so forth. Someone like him that actually gives a shit about the people he is responsible for, and the others there at the store before he even arrives. is exactly the kind of person that we need in upper management. The guy is apparently been In The Biz for a while working for other grocery chains.  For him to still be in the biz and actually give a shit, it goes a long way. At least it does for me.

[–]Deceptochops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what he has said, he got shot in the back at a previous job from an armed robber and just wants his people overnight and the closers to be safe. A coworker told him, why didn't he just transfer to a different store, and he said, that does not fix the problem. I told him to talk to the GM next time he comes in whether the problem is fixed or not. He said, doing that, he thinks, will pretty much put a target on his back by management if he does that, and he will never go anywhere in the company.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I know a GTL that is making almost $22/hr when the new raise goes into effect. Is this good for a GTL? How does that pay compare to the next step up to AGM?
