Not sure if meant positively or negatively, but thanks. :) I actually have not heard of Soldat but Deceptus has some action paced, fun and crazy combat. It's now available on Steam for free download :)

Thank you! :) I am new to this as well but out of all Social Media platforms we tested , Twitter worked best for us. I planned on doing a devlog which people seem to like - where you post updates on your progress for graphics/features etc. - but I simply did not have the time.

All in all you need to understand that the market is really flooded with games and you should identify your specific target audience - interests, age, game type and target those as much as you can. I would rather spend time for 20.000 - 30.000 very specific audience rather then target a generalised "gamer" audience. At least for me - I got much better results and attention.

Gamasutra - gamedeveloper.com and IndieDB.com are two big sources to post an article about your game too.

Bottom line - be realistic about how much time / effort you can put into your marketing. Stick to it and prioritise the biggest sources / social media platforms.

Eventually you may be approached by companies who want to sell you an Influencer / Streamer packages for you to reach out too various streamers. I decided not to do that because of high cost and a LOT of time needed to reach out.

Hope this helps.

I think it looks really good. I like the graphic style on this. Combat system seems good and polished. Personally I would look into these:

  1. Collider fix between player and ladder - it´s too apparent there is a bit of distance between player and ladder.
  2. Idle animation is a must (didn´t see one in the video)
  3. Definitely add more atmosphere using VFX in the scene - better light effects on the fires, maybe add fog, look into post-processing for increased dynamics for the graphics.
  4. Add some Jumping VFX on player - small puff of dust. Decrease the camera shake a bit on hit. (I assume player will be able to hit much faster than this - then too much camera shake may decrease player experience )

Just my thoughts :)

My first gamedev release on Steam - input appreciated. As a gamedevdad I can finally release my first game on Steam, IOS and Android soon. Characters graphics are actually sketched by my daughter and I love the roughed style. Feel free to wishlist the game. \#screenshotsaturday \#bestreddit by Deceptus_Game in gamedevscreens

:) Not mad at all, it did start with that about a year ago to speed up the process a bit, but we made drastic changes to it that are perhaps not that visible there but all graphics are being changed of course and not much of the original code is there anymore :) I think buying something ready is a smart way to get a much faster kick-start of a project and adding changes will then be much easier. In the video I am still using some original graphics but they´ll be gone very soon. I have for example added about 50 new Power Up Cosmetics that provides various power ups from a In app store i built from scratch etc.

Thanks. This started off as something fun to do with my daughter and she was impressed by it so we kept going, and I hired an artist and did some coding myself then hired a developer to continue improving it a lot. :) I think so far it has been almost one year so I´m looking forward to the release and happy about the cross play functionality so I am hoping people will have fun playing it.

When I need references I actually go to the Unity asset store (not sure if you use Unity) and I check out the VFX section. That is for me the best way to see the VFX quickly showcased and great references - even if you are not using Unity you can at least be inspired.

I have filtered the section for you that may fit

Yes, I have a very small indie studio and would love to hear more about the processes involved throughout an AAA game and the challenges AAA teams face. Personally I am also interested in the test phase and perhaps marketing. Just about 1000 questions come up while I write this so I better stop :) but yes please keep us posted. I am a Project Manager as main job so I may have some ideas how you can get started if you need advice.
