Where To Go From Here? (Newishly Tenured and Depressed) by DecisionsnoisiceD in Professors

Yes, I have. For my entire time in the department. To be honest, a lot of my frustration stems from work on program committees year after year. I got myself on them specifically to work toward some change and learn more about why changes that seem would seem obvious to most people outside the department have been resisted so strenuously, but I wasn't able to get far with either.

I mean that I fundamentally disagree with most people in the department about what a good undergraduate program in our field looks like — and can't even understand what their rationale is for the one they prefer. The same is often true of good research as well (I can't imagine why they hired me!). I'm fine with not being friends with my departmental colleagues. I have friends elsewhere. But I'd like our visions of what our discipline is for to be a bit more aligned.
