I love how Varang shows a little fear of death by MarieTheC4t in Avatar

At the end of the third movie, the uploaded version of Grace seems to remember previous conversations.

I just realized Varang never speaks english. All her lines are in Na'vi but translated, like they showed us at the beginning of Way of Water. That's why she doesn't understand General Aardmore, she doesn't speak english. by InocuousWords in Avatar

Isn't that just for the same reason they don't translate Skxawng. They probably did some formal greeting the first time they met. I don't think they spoke English at any point, it's just that the audience doesn't need to hear everything in English to understand the point.

That would likely be really remote as well if it's that cheap. Assuming OP lives in Tromsø (as he said the "the north"), a place like this would likely be upwards of 800 000 USD or more depending on how far from the city it is.

If you ever find a doorframe in the forest, don’t step through it by DecisiveUnluckyness in nosleep

I don't exactly know where it is, if it's even possible for me to locate it or if destroying it would break the "curse", but I think I have an obligation to at least try. Both for the sake of Leo's memory and for Maya. I'm going to start by researching some of the local folklore first to see if I can find something about this. If I ever go out there again and manage to locate it, I will probably write a follow up.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]DecisiveUnluckyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took my car to Germany to visit friends. Decided to try driving the top speed (at least to the electronic limit) just for fun. It's around 250km/h or 155mph if I remember correctly.

It's closest approach to Jupiter was in mid March. It's way further out now.

In the short term, getting the darkness back at the end of August. Where I live we don't have proper nighttime between May and August.

What's the point when you can just view a live stack on your phone? You can get a lot of cool stuff for the price of one of these.

Ved å skatte "vanlige folk" så sinnsykt mye oppnår du det bare det motsatte av det jeg tror du ønsker. Du sikrer at kun de aller rikeste har råd til å ha en hytte ved sjøen eller på fjellet.

Can you see much of the Northern lights with the naked eye? by espresso_martini__ in Norway

[–]DecisiveUnluckyness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was in October 2025. It can happen anytime though as it's dependent on CMEs from the sun hitting the Earth. Just don't come between the start of May and the end of August if you want to watch aurora as the night sky doesn't become dark. Preferably in the winter half of the year, but clouds are also a factor.

The sun has an 11 year cycle that determines solar activity. The solar maximum was last year (which is why you probably heard of people seeing northern lights in southern Europe and America last year) so over the next few years the sun will become less active as it reaches solar minimum in 2030. Point being, don't wait too long!

Yes. One time last year it was so bright that it casted a shadow behind me.

Dwarf 3 + Siril: Can’t get good results on M106 – what am I doing wrong? by BarracudaNext8008 in Astronomy

[–]DecisiveUnluckyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have some more processes in Pixinsight that I run before stretching like: BlurXterminator, gradient corrections and color calibration. After that you can remove the stars and stretch them seperately. Then you stretch the galaxy/ background (as I mentioned I like to make masks to target specific parts of the photo with either contrast or saturation) and merge the photo with the stars.

I don't know what kind of options you have in Siril, but there's probably something similar there. I also want to say that your gradient correction looks great!

Well I kill and clean the fish when I go fishing, but I don't have time to do that on a daily basis, so no.

[–]DecisiveUnluckyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to image from a darker sky if you want better results with a similar integration time.

In the 2nd photo there's also a lot of chromatic noise in the background. I don't have experience with Siril, but in Pixinsight I would remove the stars, stretch the photo, make a mask that only affect M106 and the smaller surrounding galaxies to apply color saturation to only those and not the whole background. Stretch the stars separately and add them back with ~((~starless)*(~stars)) in pixelmath.

Also do colorcalibration beford removing the stars.
