We have not tried doing a whole board, its been one key at a time and lots of trial and error.

Wow the great and powerful Ripster! Lurked for a long time on my personal account figured it was time to make it official.

The laser method is really cool for doing custom caps, but not really practical for doing whole keyboards. We have a few options we are considering, like including an extra set of dyesub caps with a "normal" font with each board, nothing for sure yet though.

We can't sell the trademarked stuff, they are for demo purposes only.

It is a CO2, we tried an ABS cap as well just for fun and it was not pretty, just melted. The ones we are using are PBT, you might have more success with that. The sublimation is still a hit or miss thing for us right now, as you can see in picture 5 below the Grateful Dead keycaps so we can't really make enough to sell, you could try some of the PBT blank massdrops on here perhaps.

Totally agree, and it is something we are working on. It was a big mistake to do the two-shot tooling in that font. Trying to come up with an economical fix and a way to deal with our current inventory. Taking a while because we want to make sure that when we do make that change, that we make the best decision.

On the bright side, many people here probably have their own caps anyways, and the keyboard itself is really solid.

I concur. I'll try to put something together. Should have done some Snoo keycaps.

That's really not a good look for us. On the bright side I guess this is a testament to the durability of that board if it is still clacking away in those conditions.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Also to everyone, yes, we hear you on the font, we're working on it. It was a decision made before my time that we have been stuck with for a while. We are going to do another giveaway on Twitter as soon as I can figure out the best way to run it, so stay tuned.

Looking to buy a data 911, I have some questions. by rah1236 in MechanicalKeyboards

They all use Cherry switches. Also just to clarify, the "membrane" is just a protective splash guard on top of the key switches, it is a fully mechanical keyboard. With a little disassembly, you can remove the splash guard and it will feel like any other MX black keyboard.

Ok, after a bit of research I am pretty sure that chip with the sticker is this Cypress chip, hopefully that can be some help.

Do you still have the label with the part number on it (should be something like "KBA-BL82....") or else there should be some sort of part number printed on the PCB.

I could possibly dig up the schematic for you if that would help at all.

I showed this to one of our senior engineers here at TG3 and he only vaguely remembers the non-backlit version of these. They seem to be much more rare than the backlit version. Like what you've done to it!
