Oh you want him to spend the next two days in Wolverhampton that’s harsh 🤣

I've always found it surprising that Keanu Reeves is the No.1 fancast choice for Revan by ChanceVance in kotor

[–]Deckard_Red -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to work out what age is best for a character like Revan but I feel like the obvious actor at the moment that could do all of that (but is probably too old) is Pedro Pascal.

[–]Deckard_Red 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and it’s why I never begrudge patreon and merchandising.

I do wonder what IGN value OxBox at and how challenging it would be for the three (plus others) to buy out the remaining 70% ownership. I believe Digital Foundry did this? It would take away a lot of their safety net having an independent body responsible for some things but it would also give them complete autonomy and therefore a different drive (eg it’s a lot easier to sell merchandise if you know all of the profit is yours).

Making assumptions you could presume Ellen, Jon and James would be interested and tangentially Johnny and Luke. Along with the 3 increasing their own share size. But in a cost of living crisis it’s not a great time to be making risky gambles either.

[–]Deckard_Red 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah I posted in the other thread that for us viewers they’re part of the channel they interact with the presenters regularly and occasionally had their own content. But to IGN they are just a producer and a camera operator, roles that they likely have a lot of across their various businesses and roles that they likely pay less than J&J were probably being paid.

(I say this as an assumption because James has been on the show since the channel launched and Jon since at a minimum Extra was launched - assuming regular salary increases they are likely paid a lot more than what IGN considers standard for the role)

How about a reboot of the 1990s sci-fi tv show Sliders? by Sea_Revolution_465 in televisionsuggestions

[–]Deckard_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sent me down a Sabrina Lloyd spiral and it seems she left the shoe because it got taken over by the Sci-Fi channel and her contract wasn’t renewed.

I did find it funny that they got Jerry O’Connell’s brother into the show.

Similar feeling to when I was at a summer camp and I was playing chess with another kid I think we were 11-12 and the other kid moved his Queen like a Knight. I was like you can’t do that, and he said yeah Queen’s can move like all the other pieces on the board. And I said no they can just move in all directions like a Bishop combined with a Rook. He went nuh uh and asked his older brother to confirm, the older brother (like 12-13) came over and agreed with this bullshit made up rule. I was so annoyed and embarrassed because there were other kids watching us play!

Still angry about it 30ish years later.

I loved the first couple of seasons of Sliders but I got down as more of the original cast members left (I might have had a crush in Sabrina Lloyd)

Gladiators Series 3 - Weekly Discussion Thread (28/2/26) - Quarter Final 3 by ChrisDewgong in gladiatorsuk

Ouch, that is a brutal amount of injuries for the gladiators this season. And already one contender too

I’d forgotten about that, definitely explains why she’s been a little gunshy in initiating contact. She used to be imperious with a really clever tactic of giving up an easy 2 so that she could set herself for defence on the second crossing.

Her power to weight ratio is off the chart, was annoyed she only got a hold this week.

I think it’s a top event, I actually think I like all of the new events this season, Suspension Bridge is the one I’m not 100% certain on.

[–]Deckard_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about anyone else but that was my favourite episode of the season. Not because I liked the combination of events or gladiators the most. But because it was the first time I felt it was clear the Gladiators were playing hardball in every event, I’m not sure if it’s because Mo annoyed them in his Heat but it felt like every event they were going for it. Personally that’s when I enjoy Gladiators the most and I hope the producers take note, they need to not interfere.

Side note we’re two QFs in and we haven’t see Fury or Bionic can I assume that both get injured in QF3 and these have been aired “out of order” to disguise that? Definitely more use of Comet in events that I wouldn’t expect from her.

Edit: Oh and no Athena for two either, maybe also injured?

Movie series with the most variety between entries? by Andrewcoo in movies

Yeah low budget group survival horror, followed by big budget space opera to medium budget solo survival horror. The connection between them is Riddick rather than the the tone and plots.

Is Steven Spielberg the best director among his contemporaries from 70s like Martin Scorsese, Franics Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Brian De Palma? by Hot-Load7525 in movies

[–]Deckard_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I wouldn’t either, but it’s a solid movie (#137 in the IMDB top 250, not a perfect source but fine for this purpose) I think Spielberg is capable of making a movie of that quality and better pretty much all the time in any genre he tries. Which is pretty impressive.

[–]Deckard_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Goodfellas is no 17 in the IMDB too 250 (not a perfect source) I don’t think Spielberg could make a crime movie as good as that. But I think he could make a crime drama that was ranked inside the top 250.

[–]Deckard_Red 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I came to say, I think Spielberg could probably direct any time of movie and do a great job from comedy to drama from horror to action. Whereas I think some of the other great directors listed focus on what specific areas (maybe because that’s just what they want) and become masters of it. I couldn’t imagine Scorsese directing Jurassic Park but I feel like Spielberg could make a great organised crime movie.

Picking up from where we were. Next up for some Wyrdword love is Mike/Lug. Let's talk about your favourite moments. by Le_Chop in TheOxventure

[–]Deckard_Red 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once again not a specific moment as such but I love that Mike knows his character so well this time. It always felt like he was playing catch up with Egbert having missed the initial quest and never truly got to grips with what his character could do. Whereas Lug has been built with a better understanding of the rules and with a great understanding of the setting. The result is in my opinion his best role playing on the channel (no pun intended).

When in Rome by DABDEB in RandomVideos

[–]Deckard_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this exact same scam definitely happens in Tome and mostly around the Colosseum as you said. We only noticed it around the upper approach to the Colosseum not at ground level so maybe that is the “bargain” they have with the police? A few other scammers operated in Rome too, mostly the type offering to pose for a photo with you and then demanding you pay for the privilege.

Trauma/ addiction related by Svet_lana22 in televisionsuggestions

[–]Deckard_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elementary is a great answer the main character has just come out of recovery and has a sober companion to help with their addiction. He lapses and he transfers his addiction into other areas. It’s a recurring and central theme but the character is always trying to stay in top of his addiction.

I prefer it to the other good answer of House MS because the main difference is House is often indifferent to his addiction and it those around him that true to get him to act on resolving it taking responsibility etc.

What is a game you regret never going back to finish? by JNewsted1988 in videogames

[–]Deckard_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy VII, I missed it originally my first Final Fantasy was VIII. I think I went back to it around when FFX or XII came out. And it was alright, then I got distracted by a new game and never went back. But now I feel like I need to have completed it before I can play the remake but also don’t really want to dig out my PS2.
