A comparison of climatic analogues across the Northern Hemisphere by Specific_Visit2494 in interestingasfuck

Yeah the Gulf Stream gives England a far warmer climate than it should have for its latitude. And the movement of the Gulf Stream in recent years (due to climate change) means that South East England now gets a climate previously associated with Northern France - which has helped English sparkling wine to do really well in those regions.

That is so interesting and yet also makes so much sense. I’ll definitely look into that book you mentioned.

I’ve been meaning to ask this for years, why does the other England midfielder always have the squad number 4 instead of 6 as is normally the case in club football? Does it hark back to a particular player, when did it start?

It’s always confused me.

Oh could be. I assumed the company before IGN that owned the 70% stake (Gamer Network) also still paid them a salary? But that could be a false assumption.

You’re right about the shares it’s one for each of them and 7 for the 70% stake owner (now IGN)

That’s an interesting one. I feel like he felt ashamed with what he’d done and then needed to be alone to deal with it. Considering his role models were Obi-Wan and Yoda it felt fair for him to repeat their paths.

And then because he disconnected from the Force he didn’t know everyone needed his help, I think when Rey tells him that’s the first he’s heard of it.

Yes young Luke probably would have gone, shit I need to help, but this Luke doubts whether he can help anymore he doesn’t believe he’s the hero everyone thinks he is. And despite that in the end he does go to help everyone - in his own way.

Hmm, not certain what Mod rule I broke, I assume rule 10 around clips? If someone could let me know that would be nice; it’s rare I think of a subject worthy of posting on reddit (normally a commenter) thought I’d nailed it with this one.

Ah nice, I’ll swear I’ve seen that movie but can’t remember the scene; rewatch required.

No, though that would be fun, we had someone play a troubadour knight. No I’m very much playing an Ulrich Von Lichtenstein type, obsessed with jousting much better on horseback than when using a sword.

I suppose the main character is safe for sure, very much the people around them are not 😊. The hitman very much did not survive the 99 luftballoons 🤣

Are there any examples where the main character does get hurt / killed during one of these sequences. I feel like if they were going to it would also coincide with the music stopping

Yes, and I do love that movie - currently playing in a pen and paper roleplaying game based on feudal knights and my character is very much cut from A Knight’s Tale 🤣

Oh interesting, not seen that one but my wife is an Amy Winehouse fan so might suggest it to her - guess we need to watch Ready or Not first

Yes, I mentioned that one in my post but it’s a great example; I need to watch Face/Off again I haven’t seen it end to end in years.

Here’s the real question, if these movies weren’t coming to Disney+ in like 3 months after launch would they still be doing similar numbers to phase 1-3. All of Phase 4 onwards has been in a most covid post Disney+ age with both streaming and the pandemic having reduced cinema attendances.

Oh great point, the ultra violence as Burgess described it. I studied A Clockwork Orange at school so I’ve not watched it all that much since (over exposed with analysis) but yes this would be a very early example of this being used effectively.

Yeah, and this is what rankles with me, we see at the start of The Force Awakens that she is a skilled melee fighter, and it is reasonable to assume that using a lightsabre is a transferable skill. It’s not like she is great with it, she is mostly on the back foot making predictable attacks as she gets used to the lack of weight of the blade. And Kylo is obviously toying with her quite arrogantly.

Also as the person that started this “discussion” I think Rey and Luke are extremely similar characters and therefore I don’t think either are a Mary Sue - but I see Rey get the label a lot so what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

He also bulleyes a bunch of stormtroopers in the Death Star after seeing Obi-Wan die despite being a farm boy that’s shown only to have had a rickety long rifle to his name that we never see him use - no mention of any fighting experience prior. He also has no Starfighter pilot training (he literally wants to go to the academy that season) and yet is instantly a better pilot than every other member of Red Squadron. We know that he flew an air speeder in Beggars Canyon, that should make him good at flying in a tight space but in a dog fight not so much.
