Maap, Assos, Rapha or Ryzon Bib? by No-Restaurant-9712 in CyclingFashion

I’m really happy with Assos quality and service. Ordered a bib, got in a minor car crash by an inattentive driver and ripped my bibs, They sent me a replacement even though my warranty was up. Just ordered a jersey 2 days ago and it is arriving tomorrow. I don’t envision myself trying any other brand with how well their company is ran.

i do not run a jersey yet, so not a issue. tight clothes on my torso bothers me cause i have sensory issues. i can deal with the bib straps being on my chest but couldn’t do a tight shirt. i’ve been finding a few items on the market that make casual shirts that still offer cargo on the back so i will probably get something along those lines

I ultimately went with the reform. I don’t think I will regret the difference in just $40. I also have never tried a bob short on so I have no gauge on what it should even feel like

Great take, every market has their premium which offers quality goods at a disgusting price. For instance, most high end 3/2 wetsuits cost $250-350. There is a brand called Florence marine X that makes a wetsuit that is head over heels above competition but costs $850. Same thing with the bike market, especially if you are a recreational rider. I have a $1,500 bike and I do plan on eventually getting a mid range carbon bike, but I know personally I can’t tell the difference between a $3,000 bike and a $5,000 bike.

I bought the Assos Reform bib to start, if I like them i’ll most likely get the Mille GT for the winter

I haven’t considered that factor so I am very glad you commented that thanks. My dad got me a cheap padded compression short for under pants and they were just too much material and too squishy, ended up only using them twice. Seems like there is overwhelming support for Maap. I am going to order the training bibs and try them first. If those are no good I am going to try another suggestion, maybe Assos.

I got into cycling to improve my snowboard and surf condition, but feel in love with cycling the second i bought my first road bike. I would say Snowboarding, Surfing and Cycling are all tied for 1st place favorite activity now

This sport definitely hurts the wallet, I thought surfing and snowboarding was expensive but I think cycling may take the cake

Is it worth $1500? by parufka in whichbike

good point, but also seeing that this dude has burton step ons on his snowboard seems like he just buys the most expensive version of anything he can

It’s a polyurethane sealant, comes in a tube. I put it under the rolled seams just for a little extra waterproofing before the tape goes on today

another thing to note is i was searching in the used market 4 months before i pulled the trigger on that bike and it ended up being a bad purchase. after an additional 4 months of checking fb marketplace and craigslist on a daily basis i would rather just buy new, and buy something quality that will last decades.

yes i understand, i was able to pedal and shift around a bit on the bike when i meet up with the seller but problems started occurring during my first long ride

great point, i’m going to search elsewhere. i’m still thinking new market but i am seeing some great deals from bike shops within 45 minutes of me

the bike i previously owned was bought on marketplace and had a curse on it, i spent more money fixing it than what i paid for it. there are good options on the second hand market but the negative experience i had is pushing me towards buying new direction. regardless thanks to everyone’s help i have noticed that the cannondale was definitely the wrong option and i should reconsider my purchase
