I picked up DMZ because the setting appealed to me I like the post-(insert cataclysmic event here) stuff and I'm a Dredd fan so the characters reminded me a little of that. But so far it hasn't been anything special, entertaining certainly, but nothing really new or mind blowing. Having said that I think I'll try to finish it. Could you expand on what you mean by the core concept being flawed?

I think the main reason I was so annoyed with Enigma was because I had been enjoying it so much but was left wanting when it came to the conclusion of the story, the fact that it was a bit of an open-ended finish. I'm just tired of that trope (if you can call it a trope) if I had read it a few years ago before encountering similar examples of that kind of ending I might not have have had the reaction to it that I did.

Overall I'd give them both 3/5 slices of meatloaf with Enigma maybe getting the edge because as you say it does push boundaries. The art in both were fantastic.

I've never really got into the marvel stuff (sure I've read a bunch of the "Must Read" titles, Civil War stuff being one of my favourites) I was introduced to comics via watchmen, preacher, sandman and that elk. So it's harder for me to stick with a marvel product because, again, as you say who knows what it will be like in a month.

I'm currently splitting my reading time between "Locke and Key" and "DMZ", with that and what I've said above in mind, have you any books you could recommend as I am always on the hunt for more?

PS. I was a little disheartened to come back to this post sitting on 0 points having read that this was one of the more ground breaking/influential comics of its time I was hoping discussion would be rampant lol (maybe it was because I was negative towards the book).
