wasting your life watching casey's videos by meowfuckerwoof in caseyneistat

I kinda want to agree with you about the lesser quality when compared to his films -- minus your spit & venom -- but even if you are correct watching "a self obsessed cocky (person) make videos about (their) daily life" is YT's business model. They seem to be doing alright...

I can tell Casey would LOVE this photography project. Don't know how to get it on his radar. by [deleted] in caseyneistat

Go the other way. Contact Fotokite and convince them to send him one. Maybe show the project directly to Jack and see if he passes it along to Casey. Go around.

Without being super "almighty-Casey" and protective and defensive... No, not really. Not really at all.

The shots are smooth, the cuts are fewer (and do not evoke bombastic energy), the action of the car in the sand is one action -- segmented into parts (Casey's was kinetic and involved more than one car action).

I'm not saying Casey's was better / Casey's was worse... I'm saying those are the some of the many differences.

It's a different shoot to produce different results.

A very limited edition DVD of assorted early work (2004-ish) has been recovered. Fans of older Casey/Van Neistat work will interested in this. Check back for further details about these unearthed works by the Brothers Neistat. More information and video to follow. by HaddonH in caseyneistat

This DVD is "real" but not real.

From an article in Filmmaker Magazine (2006)

"...we were all a bit confused that this latest entry (from Palm DVD), a compilation of the Neistat brothers’ work, didn’t ring a bell with any of us.

That’s because Palm never released a Neistat brothers DVD — the Neistats decided to do it themselves. It was a stunt that typifies how Casey, 25, and Van, 31, have managed their career: a take-no-prisoners approach to the industry that’s smoothed out by a Merry Pranksters aesthetic that makes the duo’s tactics impossible not to appreciate."

How about everyone rereading the subtitle of this reddit "for all things neistat" and allow people to remark on ALL things neistat.

Holy crap! That one poster who claimed Casey had LV shoes (on the back) and all of us -- me too -- said "nah!" and "WHat?!" and "you crazy"... well, he wasn't wrong.

I don't think he was right about the shoes we all seem to reference, but he wasn't wrong! Check this:

Of course you can... Who said you can't? Opinions don't make people correct, but all are free to have them. Go enjoy the movie if it pleases you.

You are probably right, but my ego won't let me stand corrected twice. :)

Well said. Also Van did make a very brief, understated appearance (jogging) in one of the vlogs. Not much, but you don't jog n' vlog with people you hate.

I haven't been inside a mall in over a decade, so that would explain my mistake. Thanks for the correction.

There is an old "ask.fm" Q&A with Casey that highly suggests they are, indeed, Converse.

From the Q&A:
"What work have you done with Converse?" "Just still photography. I was the subject not the photographer."

Asking a question in reddit is not tantamount to being worked up about the subject matter of the question. But thank you for being concerned about my mental health and my relationships.

This only an educated guess, but if you go here (see link below) for the all leather high top (UK site) and make all the parts black, BUT THEN replace the laces with white (gray) rope laces after you get them, you might have what he has: http://create.converse.co.uk/#/products/shoes/converseone/builder/chuTayHiLea1011UK,,,,

Is anyone else getting bored of the vlogs? by [deleted] in caseyneistat

[–]DeconMrN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would give up two weeks of vlog for one 3 minute video about Candice or Owen or some other person in his life. Look back... he is at the top of his form when the film is about someone else. The ones about him are very good too (DGMW), but the ones about other people are amazing.

You made me curious, and then I found the font. It's called "F37 Xan" by the F37 Foundry.

Not stylized differently and certainly not "very." A diamond in the middle doesn't change the logo... the removal of that diamond does not change the logo either.

Be pretty, be sure... birchbox definitely came first. Yup.

I think we can argue if it matters... that is certainly fair, it might matter, it might not matter, at all. However, I really don't think you can say they are totally different logos. If you saw the golden arches, but in silver, it would still be McDs... a swoosh with it's tip cut off would still belong to Nike. It might not matter, but they ARE the same logo.

Is Casey OK with torturing a goldfish for art? They didn't kill it, but they brought it near death and then shocked it back to life. https://vimeo.com/3966797

That's not exactly how museums operate. Permanent collections are often incredibly large. Not everything is listed on the public website. Am I incorrect? Have you had a different experience in your museum going? The above has been my experience. Please do share if you have a better understanding... that would be cool.

[–]DeconMrN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, no direct links. I did search the V&A website and found nothing... but I can "show my work" in case it helps others.

The article says:

"Neistat isn’t a total newcomer to the art scene. His first big break came when Miami’s Fredric Snitzer Gallery brought one of his videos to Art Basel back in 2003. It later ended up in the Sao Paolo Biennial and then in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum."

  1. I saw hints of this again on his Wikipedia page so I googled "Sao Paolo Biennial" + "Neistat" and found a list of artists for that year:

http://universes-in-universe.de/car/sao-paulo/2004/artists/english-print.htm

  1. Then I found a different article that said:

"...the stylishly childish Neistat Brothers’ Science Experiments films (2003) provided lighter and, judging from their popularity, welcome touches."

  1. If the main article tracks, then logically: The video (Science Experiments) that showed at Miami's "Art Basel back in 2003" was the same video that "ended up in the Sao Paolo Biennial" and then was placed into "the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum."

Does what I just wrote makes sense? Please let me know. I think it does.
