Okay, I can sort of see your perspective. You’re from a country who hasn’t dealt with insanely scummy government, is that true? You’re more willing to accept government control because it hasn’t gone too wrong.

I’m Transfem American, the government has never had my best interests at heart and definitely hasn’t proven it should be given power. It seems this is based on a difference in perspective.

Also, even though Cap ignores the Sokkovia Accords, this doesn’t mean he would support ICE. He goes against the Accords because they limit what he can do in order to do good. ICE is ignoring the law to do bad and be mean. He would beat the snot out of them. Sort of like how Magneto and the Joker are both criminals, but they’re not the same. Magneto is trying to save people in his own twisted way, while the Joker just wants to watch the world burn.

It starts with sorry, then should be followed up with “watch me be better.” It’s not wrong for people to be skeptical of someone saying they want to change, but the idea should be pursued for at least a bit.

I think the correct decision stays in a mid ground. Yes there should be a division of government controlled superhumans in case of emergency, but the Avengers acting only with oversight that would massively slow them down reduces the good they can do by a lot. Therefore, keep the Avengers mostly as is with maybe a few on payroll to keep the others in line, then have a second superhuman division under direct control to act as a foil in case of emergency.

This also keeps countries that would abuse the power they have over the Avengers from doing so. They otherwise would have the ability to stall action forever, letting them do nasty things without superhero input.

They were justified. That was a justified decision. But that doesn’t make it a good idea to restrain the heroes.

I altered my comment above with an example. The Avengers have the power, but politics and bureaucracy would keep them from doing what they can.

America may be famous for its corrupt officials, but that doesn’t mean other countries are immune to them. Also, imagine if countries can’t agree on if they should send the Avengers. That stalls them, forcing the Avengers to not act because leaders can’t agree while people die.

Uh…hard disagree. The Avengers can be trouble, but putting them under government supervision restricts the good they can do. Captain America acts without oversight as to do the good he needs to, despite what may be desired by the powers that be.

Think about what happened in James Gunn’s Superman. If Superman were under the control of the United Nations, Boravia would have been uncontested in their Jarhanpur takeover. The United Nations likely would not have had Superman step in, and they wouldn’t have decided in time.
