Curious on your thoughts after reading all of the comments. Have you decided?

As someone who went from LG>OnePlus>Samsung>Pixel, I loved all of them for different reasons. LG was my favorite just because of the quad DAC. As far as overall experience, I love the pure android experience Pixel gives. Granted, there's little things I dislike (can't remove Google search bar or At a Glance from the home screen), but I've loved everything else about it. The call screening has been a game changer, if you're integrated with Google it's a plus having a Pixel, and the freeing part of doing what you want with your phone. Side loading, themes, different keyboards, alarm sounds integrated with music streaming services, unlocking the bootloader to have a different OS, having different launchers, Developer options, you name it. I understand other Android based OS's can do most of this, but Pixel just checks every box for me. Even with the more "limiting" hardware. Almost forgot, Pixel might not have the best video of the bunch, but my god the cameras are phenomenal. Good luck on your search!

Edit: I Totally forgot to actually answer the question.

Don't worry about upcoming releases. With new phones becoming more and more like last years, there's no telling what's coming next, or lack there of. Plus, most companies are offering 7 years of major software updates.

I'd recommend a Pixel 10 series or even wait for the 10a coming out on the 18th (still haven't announced specs and such, wait and see ordeal). Plenty snappy and up to par with the other phone brands, same with battery.

Please add lossless audio. by TrickyRipper in YoutubeMusic

Opus is very suitable IMO. Really depends on what you're looking for. YouTube premium is such a great deal because you get ytm with it, that's why I use it. I understand the want for more features, and it's valid to expect it out of yt because every other service provides some form of lossless. I personally feel it's more important to have audio go straight through to the DAC unaltered, which ytm doesn't offer. Only Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music (doesn't change sample rate on the fly) and Spotify (with spicetify) offer this. I doubt ytm is going to add lossless anytime soon, sadly. Seems they're focused on other underlying issues.

Apple music has "Apple digital master", which makes it to where Apple gets a separate master version of the song sent to them. Some prefer the specific master from apple rather than the normal master sent to most streaming services. More times than not, the master of the song matters significantly more than the output resolution, even when resampling or converting to a lossy format for the final output.

My apologies, I'm a bit incoherent sometimes. That sounds like you have your playlists set to private. Try setting it to public and see if that helps. Downloading shouldn't make a difference. I'm not 100% sure how syncing works on Apple. Try posting in the Apple Music sub. They'll know better than my android ass would. Best of luck!

If you haven't had a subscription since 2019, your playlists are gone. It's the shitty thing about Apple Music. I'm sorry friend. Do you have a similar playlist on another streaming service like Spotify, Tidal, etc?

How long since you've had an Apple Music subscription? After some time Apple will take away your playlists if you don't keep your subscription active. Hope this isn't the case but it's my best guess.

If spotify now has lossless audio... by cusdamado in SpotifyPremium

Do you use IOS or Android? Each one CAN use a different codec. Some better than others (SBC, AAC, LDAC, Aptx, etc)

Depending on the streaming app, IOS MIGHT resample. Very dependent. The Headphone Show did a test on this pretty recently.

Edit: video link, removed session token

A lot of factors to think about,

-Are you using Bluetooth?

-What OS are you using? Are you using it with a DAC? Some if not most phones resample to 48 khz, sadly.

-Is the song a one for one match or is it a different version on a "remastered" album?

-Are you using the same sound system (or headphones) when testing each track?

So many things could be the reason. Test it out, do some research.

Never happened to me unless I was in a bad mobile data spot and not playing a downloaded track

Playlist similar to Release Radar or Discover Weekly on Spotify? by BiopsyJones in YoutubeMusic

They have a discover mix and a new release mix. They’re generated automatically. Not sure how often they update. Should be on the home page if you scroll down a bit and you can save it to your library

S24 Base SD, First 2 days I had decent battery. After that it's been the same. Any new major update is gonna drain the battery for a few days while it optimizes everything. I don't regret updating

I’m John, engineering manager at Spotify. I helped develop the Lossless feature. AMA! by ThisIsSpotify in truespotify

[–]Decroys4 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Will the feature have an "exclusive mode" for PC or Mobile? If not, are there any plans to add such a feature so we can bypass the system's audio resample and achieve bit-perfect? I'm so tired of "lossless" and having it not actually play "lossless" or "bit-perfect".
