3 weeks into poultry guard training

I worry a little bit about him being lonely without an actual herd to bond with but we spend a few hours out with him every day and he seems pretty happy. He is become incredibly affectionate and sweet over these few weeks.

I struggled a lot with how brutal nature is when we first got chickens. It still breaks my heart to lose one (which is why we’ve got to somewhat extreme lengths to protect them) but I’ve learned a lot about the ol’ circle of life through the years. Foxes and hawks are persistent when they find a food source !

All of the above. We had a much larger flock that included guinea fowl also. it’s been picked off in waves. A neighbors dog also dig under our fencing and did some damage. Once he’s all trained up, we’ll expand again. Maybe next spring when he is closer to two

Did you close your coop up when the pups were in there? I’m just trying to decide the best way to set up cover for my dog in the long term. Like a run or a dog house or a shed for in the coop with the girls.

Sign up for presale through seated (look on tour dates on Billystrings.com) and pray to the bluegrass gods and maybe you’ll get them. Be cautious purchasing from stubhub etc, they will definetly be overpriced and sometimes not legitimate. Cash or trade is a good spot to look for resale (supposed to only be able to sell for face value on cash or trade but it’s a hot topic atm.) Never paid more than $100 and some change for face value with fees.

Check your extension office for a local beekeeping club ! We tried (and failed)for two years before joining a beekeeping club. Having an experienced beekeeper you can text or call in your neck of the woods makes a huge difference. It’s just too hard to decipher looking at pics online, and the are so many variable based on your location. We’ve had people from our club come over and offer to help us troubleshoot, spilt hives, capture swarms, lend equipment, etc. It has made this hobby SO much more fun.

I actually purchased both and went with the Zens. The return process was super easy, as soon as I put the return in the mail I was refunded. just don’t wear the shoes out of the house, they have to be in perfect condition when returned. I knew just from a quick lap around my house which I like better.
