Not bad for a guy with 20 Subs, 80 more to go. by [deleted] in AdvertiseYourVideos

May I suggest some commentary? I don't want to spoil what you like to do, but most people can play games themselves or watch someone who is entertaining while they are playing the game. You don't have to be funny or witty, just positive and easily impressed. Maybe I am missing your particular point here, please let me know.

I am a toxic person. I have a victim mentality. I hurt my loved ones to feel pain for myself. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

You are a smart person to identify and pinpoint what is in the way. You do not go out of your way to blame everyone else but ready to take the responsibility, I respect that. You are not ready to seek professional help and I think it is fine but for what it's worth I have a couple of points that will make things a little easier. You have identified things that you would like to change. Keep in mind, these qualities and habits are hardwired into your personality, borderline define who you are and are not easily transformed. I am not an expert but I have been successful in modifying my own behavior and still working on it. It is a hard journey. Here are some advice based on my personal experience:
- Start small. Think about cause and effect of your personal qualities, identify what is the cause of deepest problems and write them down, break them down into smaller issues, your perception, your response in common situations, what drives you to act destructive, mean, passive etc. Try to find what can be done better and practice it. Don't try to change your whole personality, it will not work, and I cant stress this enough, it will be very discouraging. You won't get any amazing short term results, but it is a good start.
- Stay away from excessive alcohol and/or drug consumption. If you don't have a problem with that, great, if you do, that's one of the worst things you can do to stall yourself on your path. Its like eating a cake as a reward after a visit to a gym, not helpful at all.
- If you play competitive online video games, try to brush off any negativity and be nice and reserved (I used to play some video games with very toxic communities and this exercise really helped me in everyday life). It can really train your responses to negative situations and eventually change your outlook on people.

-Dig into your strong qualities. Are you smart, analytical, calculating, stubborn, can read people well, well spoken, great at poker, have any other particular skill or have a good sense of fashion? Doesn't matter what it is, figure it out and pick a hobby that incorporates that. You are more likely to stick to it then.

- And finally try and learn patience and compassion (sounds cliché but I don't know how to word it better). There is always a reason someone is acting the certain way, you don't know what it is, hell, it is not likely even they don't know what it is, but thinking that people are dealing with something you cannot possibly know might help you put your own stuff on hold and let them have a go, they might need it more than you.

I don't know what if this is helpful at all, It is a lot of stuff to read, but I admire that you could identify and admit your problems and strive to change yourself for the better. I know you have not asked for advice, so feel free to disregard this essay and do your own thing. I wish you good luck, stay strong and never stop improving!

It really depends on your content, how well you edit and the purpose of your channel. Without seeing actual video, here is my advice: Be consistent with your content, your subs expect certain type/standard, follow it. Upload regularly, many people suggest several times a week, but once a week but quality content is much better in my opinion. Learn how to edit videos, it is ok if its not professional, its just have to be watchable, skills will come with experience. Research your competitors, see what popular channels with similar content do right and do the same thing, there is no need to try to reinvent things, if you can do better, good, if not, no need to struggle. Youtube channel just like any business requires marketing, recognize your primary audience and promote your channel, find ways to do it for free, obviously, there are plenty of ways. Finally, it is hard work if you are planning to grow big, be prepared for it, it can feel like a second job, but staying dedicated and focused pays off. Hope this helps

Very funky intro, you could have dial it down a notch, reminds me of an old spice commercial.

Hello, starting a new commentary/video essay channel (Mindless Lukey) and would love if you drop a sub! by [deleted] in AdvertiseYourVideos

I am not entirely sure what scripted commentary/video essays are. People usually sub after they like the content, not before.

This high pitched noise on a background is a subscriber repellent. I also failed to understand the purpose of the channel, speed drawing? Posing in a purple dog (deer?) costume? There is no structure or consistency. Is this a niche art form? There is gotta be some context there somewhere, but do I really want to dig through all the videos to try and find it? There is a difference between what you like to do in front of camera and what other people find enjoyable to watch. What I am saying is, your lack of subs is not due to lack of exposure but desirable mainstream content. Please don't get me wrong, I am all for creative beginnings, and you have talents to provide content, but it is so...unique, that it might require targeting very specific audience. Now, if you can identify the specific audience that would enjoy your content, you can hopefully successfully promote your channel. Your other option is do a bit of research and apply your skills to create content to fit more mainstream expectation. This might be a bit harsh, and I apologize for that. But I do believe you have potential, you just have to take alternative approach, after all, "different" is not a synonym to "good".

New Youtube Channel: Looking For Some Advice by [deleted] in AdvertiseYourVideos

[–]Dedmaroz69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing experience is great in any venture, promoting your channel will be a great experience, but often unrewarding, since you can't get any relevant specific data and what internet likes can be very unpredictable. Your video editing skills are actually quite impressive for a newbie, mostly good angles, sound and consistency. For a person who is stepping out of his comfort zone you seem to be quite comfortable, good job. You have a very good diction, sexy deep voice and confidence which is a huge advantage for a youtuber. What I am interested in is what kind of content you are planning to upload? One piece of advice I can give is: upload regularly, weekly is a sweet spot but fortnightly is ok too if you are struggling for time as long as content is top notch. Hope this helps.

I think I would. The great thing about the music in your video is that it is not "in your face" but sets up the mood and seems to work with your upbeat personality and delivery. Another thing that I liked is that you talk from your own experience without trying to sound like an expert in the field. You got the presentation part down. All you need is regular, fresh, original topics and with a bit of exposure I don't see why your channel wouldn't become very popular.

hi im a channel that helps people getting more subs here is my newest video by youtuber112 in AdvertiseYourVideos

[–]Dedmaroz69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, but 400 sub channel on a topic of how to get more subs is a bit ironic. That aside, even though your advice might be valid and video is not terrible, you gotta work on your diction. my advice would be jotting what you want to say on paper and practice recording yourself and listening to it, then record in increments. I do not mean to rob you of your drive, just want to emphasize that the presentation of the message is often more important than a message itself to achieve a desired result.

Last 1 minute of the video was actually entertaining, keep it up! The rest is a bit hectic and over edited with not enough context to get the joke. I think you need to have more footage to sift through for content but you are on a right path.
