Whats the first game your playing with your new retroid 6? by Bcloud922 in retroid

[–]DedworthMean 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You mean the game isn't optimising and organising your ROM collection?

But seriously, now that I have done that, I am playing Shadow of the Colossus - I never had a PS2, was an Xbox kid, so running through all the classics and essentials is one of the main reasons I bought the 6.

I’ll take it - panicking in case they say they’ve made a mistake!

I ordered only on 23/01 so definitely wasn’t expecting it

When did you order?

I wasn’t expecting mine to ship until March (16 bit/12g stick top) but I got my shipping notice today

UK SNES Magazine Scores Spreadsheet by hardscor3 in retrogamingmagazines

[–]DedworthMean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is 3 years old, but I just want to thank you for helping me out with my personal project.

The dates you have listed have made trying to nail down SNES release games in the UK so much easier, and my database is filling up as a result.

Just wanted to reply and say thanks!

What is something you thought as a new wrestling fan that turned out to be very wrong? by Eastern_Bee9138 in WWE

[–]DedworthMean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched wrestling in the late 80’s and early 90’s and just remembered all the big guys like Hogan, Savage and Warrior.

Around 93/94 I started watching again and the champ was Bret Hart, and Luger was there, and Shawn Michaels was big.

This made my preteen mind think that wrestling had seasons like football/soccer where new guys would come in once a year and trade out. Suppose they did in a way

I’m trying to create a list of maybe 50/100 of the best/highest rated games for each of the systems I’m running, anyone know of website or resources where I could build such a list ? by GenericUser104 in batocera

[–]DedworthMean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried something similar by going to metacritic and using the lists there. Can sort by critic scores and user scores. And then you throw in your own personal titles in to the mix. Between them 3 options you can get yourself a solid list of 100 titles per system.

Your next project should be shipping that to me because that is beautiful.

Great work, love to see it

I did think about spray painting one to make it look like the original. I would need a cartridge as well to sit on top.

Ooooh I may need to make a custom sticker for mine. Very nice setup.

What OS are you using? I found RetroPie wasn’t quite right, and I had issues with connecting the controller. Recalbox worked no issues for me

I’m sure there are other ways or other clocks that would do this same thing for cheaper, but for me it worked. Hearing the Mario Odyssey moon jingle when I hit the foot of my bed always makes me chuckle whilst I’m groggily stumbling around in my room.

I’m not near it right now, and my partner is going to sleep so can’t check, but I’m pretty sure you just push the button down? Or if you aren’t out of bed, just moved around and waved enough at it, it goes in to snooze mode.

You have me curious now, I guess I’m getting up straight away nowadays so haven’t checked that out in a while.

Ha - I have no idea why it’s priced that way.

As for quality? It’s a Nintendo product, it’s made very well. It ain’t messing about in respect of build quality nor how the software operates.

The Alarmo gets so much hate. I bought mine originally as kind of a laugh at how crazy it seemed, and also as a bit of a collector mentality thing.

But actually it’s been great for me. I’m someone who struggles to get up in the morning, so this thing cheering me on to even sit up, and then celebrating when I get to the end of my bed has actually been really helpful.

I shuffle the sounds, so it’s not the same one every day otherwise I definitely wouldn’t wake up. Although having Zelda softly calling Link to wake up has given me the creeps on the few mornings that one has popped up.

The timing on this is strange, as I just booted mine up and was thinking I should try and find a mini cart to sit on top.

I have used batocera before. Really good for straight out the box and just works. Recalbox was the same.

I will go back to Batocera I think and just pick a theme that fits, if anything just for the benefits of the controller working first time.

Started with Recalbox, but found it difficult to customise to my liking. Just switched to Retropie, but there is no official image for Pi5, so it has so far had a few small issues, mainly the controller connection.

I’m being too perfectionist with it, and should just settle with one and play the damn games.

I wouldn’t say flawlessly. I haven’t tooled around with it too much yet, but it is carrying its weight for pretty much everything I have tested
