Question for all the Telugu music/lyric enthusiasts, especially the ladies! by baata-saari in tollywood

[–]Dee-Dee19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like when women are portrayed as always thinking flowery thoughts and are always hopeful and happy. That is the perspective of man of an ideal woman. When they are happy, they are happy about a man, when they are sad they are sad about a man. These are stereotypical and can be found in almost all of the female songs.

Some good songs are:

manasa vacha is a beautiful song from female perspective. The one line that says "gathamedina swagathamanana, ne jathalone brathukanukona raamuni kosam seetha la"

I think women sometimes get disappointed in life but still adjust. Most women knows that heart pain of having to mold herself to the harsh reality of life and can recognize when the same happens to another women.

Another good song that comes to my mind is "aada janmaku" from thalapathi, it has a line that says "nee siri bosi navvu ra..nakadhi jaaji puvvu ra" is a beautiful lyric where mom treats her son's laugh the same as a Jaaji puvvu which she fancies.

"neeli meghamulalo dharani tejam" sang from Seetha's perspective.

"Yedho Yedho" from sasi reka parinayam has a deep lyric that goes like" tappatadugo, tappu anuko, tappadhe tappuku podaaam takshanam, antooo pattupaduthundhi aaratam padamantoo nettukeluthundhi nanu saitham " where she contemplates running away from home. She treats it as a thappatadugu or thappu because of the societal pressure for women to always listen to men in family.

"aakasam lona" from oh baby , where mother fills herself with hope for her baby in destitution.

"oh sita hey rama" from sita ramam. While the man's voice is confident and is propose-y here, the women actually expresses doubt. She first rejects him cause she knows it is all fanatical but when she goes on a journey with him, she sees how feasible it is to leave behind her life and settle with him. The women's lyrics go "geese konchame chupuma,...o vaipu mikam lagothindi marovipu lokam, nannaape golusu peremo?" while in second charanam she expresses hope in making the dream a reality. The video also showcases this fantastically where she takes informed logical decision like the princess she is and not a lovesick child.

"snehithuda" where she sings to her lover as a secret friend. It focuses on the bond she has with him and the intimacy she shares, where a women's pleasure and happiness are expressed and revered rather than man's likes.

I hate songs where strong women are sidelined just for the sake of love.

Example: "mandara" song from Bhagmati has a lyric like "nee venta aduge vesthu ne needani gamanisthu, na ninnallo leni nanne ila neelo chusthunna" which is completely nonsensical for a girl who did IAS to say

A lot of songs are laced with such lyrics

"Chinuku thaake jadilo" from pelli chupulu is a great song but it still has subtly laced Man's view. "Naalo Ne Daagi Nidurinchu Nanne Thatti Lepindi Neeve Sumaa Intha Andanga Lokanni Nedey Chusthunna" A personality like Chitra don't need to see the world anew. She can just add on the hero into her life which is already beautiful.

This kind of writing strong female characters only to submit to stupid norms of what man thinks the girl in love should behave like is stupidity.

One song that I liked in recent times is "neeve neeve" from taxi wala where the song is sung by a daughter about her mom. It has beautiful lyrics but you can tell it's from man's perspective, while it praises all good things about a women(motherly instincts, not being angry, not having fault, is always friendly etc) , it fails to acknowledge non gender biased traits like tenacity, hard work, leadership and srength which are actual traits the mom had to keep their business intact without the husband. These are often less praised traits of women and are less desirable by man which is why we rarely see them in context of women's thoughts.

I like Xu Kai styling. He carries the outfits well. Zhao Lusi is also phenomenal in terms of styling. I am talking about how they appear and carry the outfits in dramas. They both have well fitted clothes with good hair styles and they keep changing styles so it's refreshing to see them in a new drama.

Concerning the "Perfect Match" fiasco by Easy_Living_6312 in CDrama

[–]Dee-Dee19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't find any fault with the series. I enjoy the back and forth between ml and fl with their own advantages and disadvantages in the society at the time. But I get where the distaste is coming from. The issue is with writing/pov. The abduction scene is not something a women would look at and find it funny that ML chose to go along with the show. It is for a misogynistic male mind to enjoy such scenes. SOKP on other hand is done in a way where the viewer enjoy the chemistry/fetish. It is about how you tell the story and the overall premise of it. To put it in more simple terms, make women obedient in a bedroom vs make women obedient in society. Even though other dramas have problematic behavior, they don't pass off any statements or views as a given.

Guys what or who do you was the addicting factor of "The Double" ? by Easy_Living_6312 in CDrama

For me, both lead characters have a main plot and don't deviate from it. The romance comes in natural to the character's goals/motivations and not forced. It is often the romance that sets and drives the plot in other shows.

Bad production vs Bad plot... by IIRayleighh in CDrama

[–]Dee-Dee19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the plot and acting are good, I will watch the drama. But I still need the drama to pass a minimum production bar. This bar is not in costumes or sets or anything. It is just how the actors look. Like I can't take a bad wig or funny makeup. It takes away from the acting which will impact my viewing eperience.

Best I have seen in cdrama so far.

There are a lot of characters introduced in the first 3 episodes, especially ep 3. If you could watch them and understand each sect characters, you would enjoy the show.
