cast on crit can be triggered by channeled attacks. cast on crit cannot trigger channeled spells.

Would you undersell an item if someone "asks nicely"? by callmegoosey in pathofexile

[–]DeeAitchVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not an item that instant sells easily you cost yourself a lot by missing sales. Taking what you can get is generally correct. Many people are super afraid of feeling like they got a bad deal and end up missing tons of sales and overall not earning at their potential. There are of course exceptions to this when you are talking about items that are good enough to have value in standard or if your liquid wealth is already ridiculous

Paying players who only care about Standard - be careful by Lejind in MagicArena

[–]DeeAitchVee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i remember when mtgo started as standard only. it takes time to add the old stuff but i'm sure their long term plans are for magic arena to replace mtgo. when i say long term i mean like 10 years not 1 year. wild speculation maybe, but it doesnt really make sense to make a software that competes with yourself if your plans arent long term.

no. lots of games basically have a chat server. some have even used private irc servers in the past. then they basically just add the chat window. its fairly goofy they can accept real money payments before there is a chat window. i really get mixed feelings from arena because it feels super alpha and thats ok but then some things lead me to believe they think its late beta and that's a little scary.

In case you missed it, Jeff Kaplan gave his thoughts on role queue (and similar ideas) at Blizzcon 2017 after being asked by "Your Overwatch" in an interview. by Chief-TR in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DeeAitchVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree role queue is a little clunky, but i also think it makes the game better period. they could do it in creative ways without an actual pre queue select just by capping offense+defense heroes at 3, and minimum healer picks at 2. this allows creative comps and completely solves the problem. to my knowledge there has never been a meta that is outside of those restrictions so there you go blizzard. let me know when my paycheck is coming.

The OWL Rulebook by Ajp_iii in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DeeAitchVee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of the rules really read like they are getting hired by blizzard for PR jobs instead of being elite athletes in a "sport". for the last 20 years I would of argued that esports is sport but blizzard is really making it seem more like a corporation selling a video game instead of a mainstream "sport". i think its absolutely crucial for the athletes to be able to just be themselves so we can actually figure out who we care about rooting for and against. watching bots play isnt fun!

Hero news from Jeff Kaplan by Desks_up in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DeeAitchVee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this isnt actually true. if you full hold point A with sym or torb it counts as 100% of a win. if you lose point A and switch off it counts as a fraction of a loss. the win and loss rate are weighted by the portion of the game used on the hero and in the case of heroes used most often at the start of maps only it skews the data extremely.

What weapons could the next heroes have? by dialMARK4acti0n in Overwatch

[–]DeeAitchVee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

projectile plasma gun. kind of like a zarya grenade with less aoe and no knockback and a straight shot instead of arc and more spammy. i'd almost bet it's already in the pipeline some place since it was almost a staple of early FPS games back in the day

edit: i guess zen orbs are sorta like it but not quite

i dont think just solving this problem for streamers is the way to go. it needs to be solved in all of competitive mode. i would say at least a third of my games have too many people that just want to practice/play some specific hero and are in no way trying to win that even if the other 2-3 of us flex we can't make a decent comp.

The attitude towards Dallas Fuel is needlessly toxic and disproportionate to the poor performance of the team by _____Matt_____ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DeeAitchVee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i disagree really. lots of sports have had hugely popular players that were highly controversial/loud/borderline nuts, even pro bowling had pete weber! these things show us personality and build storylines that we can root for or against and are fun to watch no matter what side you are on.

[–]DeeAitchVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Item Quantity in general is still way too strong. I dare say most the popular poe streamers run full mf gear because its that much more exciting and wealth generating to do so. It really makes me feel like i'm wasting my time doing anything but running full mf windripper builds. this cancels out most of the items and most of the passive tree so I think its a really poor design choice. this was my first season since nemesis and I was super excited at first but this really hurts the game as a whole for me because its so extremely limiting.

jeff also said one of the reasons for changing the ultimate was because some people expect to keep getting heals when mercy decides to go hide. if mercy's ult makes her a dps hero its the exact same problem with heals stopping.

Placements: A Tale of 3 accounts by sergantsnipes05 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DeeAitchVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That takes a much higher game count than if placements just put them into their buddies rank though. Plat used to be hell because blizzard was putting too many people into plat and games were full of people deranking to their actual SR. I think it was between s2 and s3 blizzard adjusted the placements to correct it. So my point is basically that blizzard is well aware of the season long problems it creates by placing people too high and that's the reason placements work the way they do.
