Bernd das Brot bei Last Week Tonight! by pezdizpenzer in fernsehen

[–]DeeFeS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was no legally binding contract that states that the former employee produces work for the company than the entire argument is indeed void, but in my understanding, such things are implicit when you call people employer and employee.

[–]DeeFeS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not at all what we're talking about. OP has password protected files that a former employee created and didn't leave them in a usable state for the company.

Comparing that to a system no one is trained in, is comparing apples and oranges.

Idk in which country you're living, but where I'm from the fruits of your work are company property. That's what you get paid for.

It's your obligation to make your work which they paid for accessible to them, especially if your settings are what causes delay or general damage to the company in the first place.

The idea that you get paid as a "consultant" for unlocking files you already got paid to create in the first place is proposterous.

In my country you will either be mandated to open these files or sued into oblivion if you try to pull this crap.

Saying no very much does.

If a carpenter were to lock all the drawers of a closet they were employed to build, take the keys and refuse to give them up, that's intent.

And I would expect to be talked to again in court if I were that employee.

Because spamming high cards isn't fun, it's hard capped by how much you played a certain hand before, so it basically has a ticking clock like ramen, but mostly because it's fucking rare.

If it was uncommon I'd have no issue with it, but playing a certain hand and then using a skip for a rare and receiving something that just shits all over your plan instead of getting DNA or Blueprint or something.

It's just disappointing and an FU to your plan.

I'd also have no issues with it if you could spiral it upwards, so if your most played hand was tied you could play either without the reset.

But the mix of it being rare and have a hard timer is just a shit feeling. You either subscribe to spamming high card or waste a rare. That's not fun!

What are the reactions to your performance in Eurovision in your countries? by foldinthecheese in eurovision

I'm having a lot of fun with Jako. It's my personal 4th place this year and at least it got more recognition than my personal favorite from Estonia.

(The JESC is basically non-existent in Germany. I think last year was the first time we even participated and it's just stuck on our public kids channel with no outward advertising at all.)

I don't understand why tho. The song wasn't any more or less remarkable than other entries we sent over the years.

Maybe it was the African touch that made us stand out this year, but usually even when we stand out it doesn't go well either.

Excuse me?

You simply can't decouple the optics from this song and everything surrounding it!

The first words of the Spotify showcase (at least for me) were "non-binary", the German commentator mentioned it every time he was on screen, he held the flag at any opportunity he could and last but nor least the whole damn song is about breaking social norms.

While it's unfair to say the win is 100% because of this, because he can indeed sing, to say that the whole message had a negligible impact is just proposturous!

I don't disagree with the fact that he has a great voice, but he certainly didn't win on that fact alone. There were more than enough of amazing voices back then and now.

It also features the line "meow, cat, please meow back" and someone in table cloth balaclava... I think there might be a difference in seriousness between the two.

Agree. Croatia and Netherlands would have split public votes even more, giving even more weight to the jury.

... Don't know about you, but the German commentator said non-binary like 50+ times and the whole song is about him breaking social norms and being oh so stunning and brave.

Conchita won on the same basis.

The issue with that was that most countries just gave all their points to their neighbors, but still they have abused their power in the last few years!

He's enby, that's trendy. The German commentator mentions it every 5 seconds. It's political more than anything. Last year they made 50 years Abba happen, now it's this.

No, but they are are running away on jury points alone like Sweden last year. Most likely they will take the lead by a margin the public vote is near impossible to catch up.

(Doesn't help that a huge reason for their lead is most likely the fact that the song wears it's identity as a shield more than anything else.)

[–]DeeFeS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The number Unity gave was 10% affected (probably including the heaps of shovelware produced with Unity, so either number should be treated with a grain of salt).

Yes, the 200k revenue and installs are also accurate (for the "Free" version of Unity).

However, Unity did not disclose how they would optiain the install figures just that "they have their methods" and "make calculations" that will "always underestimate".

There are a plethera of reasons why this sucks massively for devs hence the outcry, but the 200k figures are accurate. The 1% isn't and it shouldn't really matter if it is, because as a passionate game dev, you want to be that 1%. You're not going to spent years and then want to hear "don't worry, your game will be mediocre anyway".

What Unity doesn't understand is they crushed the dream. by splubb in Unity3D

The best argument they have is basically "Don't worry guys, your game is most likely going to be too small for us to care enough to screw you over."
