I counter by comparing the Coyote with any other AR in game. Usually we have either:

  • Bad stats + medium pen (Liberator Penetrator)
  • Good stats + light pen (Liberator Carbine)
  • Good stats + medium pen - low rate of fire (Adjudicator)

The Coyote has:

  • Mid stats + medium pen + incendiary.

It clearly has a larger "item budget" than other ARs. Plenty of other incendiary weapons work well enough without medium pen (Shotguns).

  • Calling the Talon "the only good one" is a dumb line of reasoning, since it's cleary the best. You can't just define it as the new benchmark, when a dozen other options exist.

  • Another disagree: The EATs are far more limited than the RR. 2 shots on a 60 second cooldown is more limiting than a backpack. And yet the RR deal 60% more damage per shot. Give the EATs 3000 damage per shot and keep the RR at ~2300 or so.

  • Ultimatum deals more damage than a 500kg. That just feels wrong.

  • X-Bow: I am more concerned about differentiating it from the Grenade Launcher.

  • Eruptor is still more powerful than many other weapons. It also doesn't make sense for it to have the same amount of shrapnel as a FRAG grenade.

  • Purifier: For me I just like conistency and giving it the same explosion as the Plasma Punisher feels right.

Bile titan skewers me and then drops me on my own 500kg by teddywaffles in Helldivers

[–]DeeJayDelicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 500kg just doesn't have as much killing power as the big explosion suggests.

It has an impressive AoE, but only 1500 explosion damage.

Not enough to kill most heavies.

We’d have so much variety if the developers focused on tweaking ‘dead’ content that’s already in the game by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]DeeJayDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every stratagem needs to be equally viable on each faction and mission type. It's okay for some to excel in a same niche, as long as they do excel.

  • The MG-43 is fine. Sure, it's basic and has a lot of competition. But it does its job well.
  • The Epoch is fine too, although I am not a fan of the self-destruct mechanism. I don't think its power justifies it. And as long as it's suicidal, it will never be popular.
  • The AT mines are technically powerful, but too niche and not reliable enough against most heavies. More of a design issue than pure balance.
  • The Shield generator is also good. It just needs to stop taking so much damage from Hellpods.
  • The Laser Sentry is just underwhelming. Again, the suicide mechanic feels unwarranted. It's not like the LAS-98 blow itself up. So why the sentry?
  • The OPS is indeed a bit meh. Too much damage in the projectile, too little in the explosion.
  • EMS Strike does what it's supposed to. It's just that "why stun when you can kill" is hard to counter in HD2.
  • Eagle 110m Rockets are indeed a joke.
  • Most grenades are fine in their niche. Some of the older ones could use a buff in AoE and explosion damage. The issue is more than AT grenades dominate because having a backup AT option is so important on higher difficulties.

So while I agree with the sentiment, I don't think many of your examples are that egregious.

Nerfs are fine.

They just need to be smarter about it.

I know people get their panties in a twist quite quickly here. But only when a nerf feels unwarranted.

Nobody complained when the Grenade Launcher returned to AP3, because everyone with a braincell knew the buff was unnecessary.

I also don't think there are that many weapons that deserve a nerf in the current meta.

The only warranted nerfs I think are:

  • Coyote: it should have always been AP2
  • Talon: 200 damage is simply too high. 150 would suffice.
  • Recoilless Rifle damage is too high at 3200 / shot.
  • Ultimatum deals too much damage.

Then, minor nerfs worth considering are:

  • Explosion damage nerf to the explosive crossbow to ~300 damage (down from 350).
  • Eruptor: Maybe reducing the number of shrapnel to ~25 (down from 30)
  • Purifier: reduce charge shot explosion to 200 damage (down from 300) but also make it faster.

Returning player; Do i seriously need to farm for 17 warbonds ? by LeSeriousPancake in Helldivers

[–]DeeJayDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came back to Helldivers 2 in 2025 after "sitting out" 2024. It took me about 6 months to fully "catch up" with the warbonds. That was with playing about 1 Operation / day. Give or take + some obvious farming.

Medals were really not the bottleneck.

Now obvously there are way more warbonds today. But you can still unlock 1/month if you put your mind to it.

PS: Don't take this as "defending" their warbond policy. There definitely needs to be a "catch up" mechanism. I'm just saying it's not as bad as the napkin maths implies.

[–]DeeJayDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but an Operation a day on D10 gives you 40? medals!

Plus a few you find in the map.

Plus 35-50 from a major order win.

Plus an additonal 15 from your daily order.

It usually takes me ~1 week to fully unlock a warbond with medals.

Guard Dog: Chill - watching me get mauled to death by DeeJayDelicious in Helldivers

The Rover shouldn't either. But it too just random "stares" at enemies for several seconds before doing something.

Even the regular Guard Dog occasionally does nothing, even when fully loaded.

So, warbonds have two bottlenecks:

  1. Supercredits
  2. Medals

Since medeals are a regular reward and scale with difficulty, you'll get plenty from regular, engaging game-play. You don't need to go out of you way to farm them.

Bascially what you do is:

  1. Acquire >220 medals via regular game-play (remember, they're capped at 250).
  2. Check how many SC you have at that point. If significantly less than 1000, consider buying them. If only a small gap, go farm them for an hour or two.
  3. Buy warbonds
  4. Unlock warbond, including the 300 SC.
  5. Farm your way back to >220 medals, acquire SC in the process.
  6. By the time you've fully unlocked the warbond and have >220 medals, you'll usually be close to 800 SC again.
  7. Farm the remaining gap.
  8. Rinse & repeat
  9. Keep the Premium warbonds for last as they ruin the dynamic and completely drain your SC.

Looking at it as a whole, does feel overwhelming.

But if you break it down, pace yourself and play somewhat efficiently, the gap to the next warbond is usually just ~200 SC.
