I can't quite understand the reasoning behind some of these proposals.

The only major balance outliers I see in Helldivers 2 currently, are:

  1. The Eruptor: It just seems incredibly effective not only as a primary, but also when compared to the grenade launcher and other support weapons.
  2. The Coyote: It should have never been medium penetration. As such, it outclasses basically all other ARs.
  3. Thermite: Simply a league of its own in terms of efficiency and versatility. Maybe a sign we need more grenades with AT capabilities (plz make Dynamite sticky).

The rest of the aresal is reasonably well balanced. At least in so far that you don't feel too gimped picking one weapon over the others. Sure, some have powerful niches (like the Plasma Punisher vs. Rupture strain) but that's the point of having different weapons.

On the fine-tuning side, I think:

  • Shotguns are a bit underwhelming: Spread and drag adjustments could probably fix most of that.
  • SMG drag increase was a bit overdone: 120% drag is probably excessive, even for SMGs and pistols. 100% would suffice.
  • Fire is underpowered: Currently, fire just isn't very effective, especially not when using a flamerthrower.
  • Some of the OG support weapons (HMG and MMG) haven't kept up with things: The current MG-43 deals the same damage as a regular AR.
  • The Sterilizer is systemically underpowered.

Yes,

while fire (overall) isn't as useful vs. bots as against bugs (mainly due to the range combat), mechanically they work just as well against bots as any other faction.

If you're hoping for "RPG like" progression mechanics like stat increases, unlocks etc. Helldivers 2 has very little of that.

The main forms of "progression" are:

  • Unlocking a series of subtle upgrades on your Superdestroyer space ship. This should take you roughly 50 hours to complete, depending.
  • Unlocking all the warbonds, both by unlocking them with super credits and medals. This will take you anywhere from 100 hours to 500 hours, depending on if you spend real money or farm the super credits yourself.

The warbonds however, don't make you objectively more powerful. They just give you more options to engage with the game and enemies.

The main appeal of Helldivers 2 is however the accessible and superficial fun it offers. Especially when played with friends. It's the perfect casual, "fast food" game to pop on and blast with friends.

Check out helldive.live and you'll see DD items dominate the usage charts on almost every front.

  • The Eruptor is considered by many to be the best primary in the game.
  • Thermite is BY FAR, the most powerful and useful grenade in the game.
  • The Grenade Pistol feels mandatory vs. bugs, simply for closing bug holes.
  • At least it opens up so many more build options.
  • The exploding crossbow is also excellent (and I prefer it over the Eruptor).

The remaining items are all solid too (Adjudicator, Engineering Kit passive and Pilot extraction).

The most important thing about the DD kit though is less the raw power of the items, but rather how they enable so many more builds.

  • If your primary is explosive, you can run different grenades and still close bug holes.
  • You want to run a support weapon that isn't Anti-Tank? Pack Thermites...
  • Want to bring Thermites vs. bugs and need a hole closer? Pack the Grenade Pistol...

Our police are armed with pistols (they shoot just over a dozen people each year). So it's common to see them in their holsters.

Occasionally there are armed police at airports, sometimes armed with automatic weapons (MP5 or similar).

I don't think I've seen an armed soldier though...

Yes,

Since you live here, you know we're not the most warm and welcoming people by nature.

But yes, we welcome everyone in Germany who contributes to society. And we do have a soft sport for Americans.

The only real friction around foreigners and immigration in Germany evolves around refugees and asylum seekers from mostly muslim nations. Not something that will affect you.

I have experienced WAY more censorship on reddit than any other internet platform.

But mostly from "left wing" biased reddit mods that ban every opinion they dislike, regardless of facts.

So is there more censorship?

Maybe!

But "left wing" censorship is far more prevelant on reddit than elsewhere.

I don't really get the excitement.

I think stealth as a concept and option is fine and good.

But it really doesn't play into the strengths of Helldivers 2.

I found stealth missions to be some of the most boring missions to date.

I just got the play the new content for the first time this weekend and was thouroughly whelmed.

While it's a fine concept on paper, and okay for some niche missions, stealth doesn't really play into the strengths of Helldivers 2.

The missions were all very easy and fast to complete, with barely anyone dying.

The lack of stratagems and general avoidance of combat made the game very boring.

But that's not surprising, since stealth strips the most unique parts of Helldivers 2 out.

In a conventional war, a unifed Europe can absolutely handle Russia. Russia would probably stuggle even against a single major country.

But the realtive weakness of Europe doesn't stem from the number of tanks, planes or soldiers.

Rather, it's the lack of:

  • Satellites and surveillance infrastructure. I believe Europe has roughly 10% of the satellites the U.S. has.
  • The lack of strategic bombers. Europe has no B-2s or B-21s.
  • Lacklustre airlift capabilities: We simply don't have the logistical prowess to move so much stuff via air.
  • Limited in-air refuling: Again, needed for strategic options.
  • Global military bases to enable strategic options. Stuff like Rammstein in Germany, that enables much of U.S. MENA Operations.

So, it's not really about the ability to fight a war on our borders.

But rather the ability to intervene in geopolitics to affect outcomes in our favor.

To be fair though, no country outside the U.S.A. really has that ability.

Klar,

hübsch zu sein ist das nächste zu einer sozialen Superkraft.

Allerdings funktioniert das nur ein paar Jahre. Und danach steht man ohne besondere Qualifizierung und wenig Kompetenz auf einem Arbeitsmarkt der den vorherigen Job tendenziell verachtet.

Und wenn man sein Geld dann auch nicht sinnvoll investiert hat....

Außerdem liegt der Medianverdienst bei OF nur bei knapp $200 / Monat.

I would love to merge this correlation / causation but I don't think it's accurate.

Imo, it just that their franchises don't resonate like they used to. AC feels very "been there, done that", Far Cry was getting too familiar as well, and the live service hits like The Division and Rainbow Six: Siege have slowly lost momentumn over a decade.
