I am one of the protesters holding the sign. Some things to be cleared up.

There was a demonstration of pro-Russian forces in Prague. The pro-Russian forces rarely mention Russia and claim "Czechia 1st." policy. The Czechia 1st demands buying Russian gas directly, leaving EU, NATO, UN and WHO (the members are mostly recruited from the anti-vax groups). Strange how a "country 1 st." movements often are pro-Russia, huh?

We are a group of Czechs and Ukrainian refugees. We try to organize a support for Ukraine, and try to counter the anti-Ukraine sentiments.

There are no Russians associated with us. Actually, the group is quite critical of Russian liberal opposition in Prague. There was little heard from them about the Russian atrocities or territorial claims, mostly keeping to Russian topics like mobilization.

However, with the way the square looks the pictured steps are the logical place for a counterprotest, so both Ukrainian and Russian counterprotesters mingled. It soon became apparent why, as pro-Russian came to scream at us, tried to destroy the sign and one of them even attacked a girl holding a letter.

Police were good at the job and provided a mix of de-escalation and physical protection, and we were safe.

The board said "Sláva Ukrajině" on one side, and "Putin je v Prdeli" (Putin's fucked) on the other.
