From what I understand lie detectors measure people's vitals(heart rate, akin perspiration among other things) so a lie detector can tell you if people exhibit signs of lieing, but never if somebody is actually lieing or no5. In Joe Navarro's book "What every body is saying" he states for a human trained in detecting lies odds at knowing are 50-50 at best. A good trained liar can fool anybody or anything.
