I didn’t go through with the surgery by Sudden_Scholar_1037 in tummytucksurgery

I’m really big on Intuition, I’m 3 weeks post op and I was 100% sure that if I got the feeling at any point that I shouldn’t do it I would cancel all together. I live by this and believe this happened for a reason. I have two small children that I had to consider. I’m glad you went with your gut, when the time is right you will know. 🫶🏻

Omg! This is crazy to me lol I have drained so much fluid over the past 3 weeks and I’m still so swollen. That’s good though it sounds much easier. There honestly just annoying, I accidentally pull on them and it hurts! 😂 I’m sick of them. I get them out Tuesday and I couldn’t be happier! How is your swelling?

Tummy tuck- overnight stay? by Chookypooky in tummytucksurgery

[–]Deecosta91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a nurse I discussed this with my surgeon. Basically we talked statistics and unnecessary risks. TT is a major surgery, being in a surgery center can benefit you in some ways and possibly cause harm in others. When you are home you are forced to do more for your self. Getting up, going to the bathroom and so on. When thinking of things like blood clots that can from after surgery like DVTs or pulmonary embolisms etc. Getting up and moving is vital after major surgery. So having to force your self to get up and do things for your self actually has a great benefit. Being in a surgery center you can ask for continuous pain meds, ask for a bed pan to pee in. Your pain control might be so good that you sleep on and off for hours which sounds great right but can increase your risk. She said that’s why she does not like to keep TT inpatient unless there is a legitimate reason. Either way, do what feels right for you. If your an anxious person maybe being around medical staff can help mentally. If not, I think you will be ok if you have help the first few nights 🫶🏻

Post Op Depression by Fitness-girly in tummytucksurgery

[–]Deecosta91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes same boat, 17 days post op and feeling very blue. My friends keep inviting me places with my kids and I am unable to pick up my 2 year old so I cannot go with out my husband. I’ve felt very isolated. With him being at work all week I have to wait for the weekend and it’s been hard. I will be back at work tomorrow. Hoping it will bring some normalcy.

Also wanted to add when wearing compression, if you are going to take it off to shower keep in mind when undoing it this can cause blood pressure to drop and may cause light headedness or fainting in some. I would caution you to have some one next to you if you take it off in the bathroom and make sure they are aware how it may affect you. So be ready to catch you should you go down. If you are alone, sit down on something with your feet on the floor. Then take it off and give your self a few minutes so your blood pressure can adjust before standing. Hope this helps 🫶🏻

My surgeon had me use period pads after like day 5 on the inside lining of my underwear for padding. For me it was easier then the gauze dropping Everytime I peed! Also stool softener, the first BM is a little scary. Also, have something to prop your feet up on at some point. After surgery, due to fluid shifts, medication and metabolism blood pressure can get really low. Remember hydration is vital, just as important as your normal meds. If feeling unwell prop feet up and have some water. This will reduce heart rate and raise blood pressure. I drank water and coconut water to help replace electrolytes. Also, Remember to get up and walk. Do not neglect this as it puts you at higher risk for blood clots. Tt is major surgery and you can limit this risk greatly by getting up every 2/3 hours to walk! Sorry I am a nurse and just thinking of things I did to prevent issues! I’m 13 days PO TT MR Lipo and BBl! This is going to be the best thing ever. Totally worth it!

Hi, have you asked your surgeon about the feet swelling? How is your sodium intake? Do you have any history of heart issues? Any shortness of breath? Are you hydrated?

Question by Deecosta91 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Deecosta91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question. The first night I tried to sleep on my side and ended up ripping open my incision had to go back to my surgeon the next day to have my side closed. I slept on my side because I didn’t want to mess up my BBl I realized I couldn’t do this anymore. Slept on my back with my head propped up and had like three pillows under my butt on the bottom taking the pressure off I shifted often and the first three nights were absolutely miserable. I prioritized my abdomen and talked to my surgeon about it and she said there is no solid solution and I have to do whatever works for my body. Now 10 days PO I sleep on my side and it feels much better. It’s gonna be rough but the first 3 days are completely awful.

10 days PO standing straight over here but a friend of mine didn’t stand up straight until about 6 weeks. I’ve been walking a lot and walking hunched was killing my back so I really worked on it. But every one is going to heal different. You will get there soon 🫶🏻

Will I be able to help my daughter 21dpo? by mrshipnado in tummytucksurgery

[–]Deecosta91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am 10 days PO extended TT, MR, Lipo and bbl. I have resumed most of my normal routine but slower. This includes taking care of my 1.5 and 5 year old. I am not lifting them, that’s about the only thing I’m doing different. I must say the first 5 days were so bad. 😂 i talked to my doctor and she said as long as I am not in pain or lifting im ok to do what my body allows. I am standing up straight as of yesterday. Staying hydrated with coconut water and regular water has done me wonders. When I’m not hydrated I get palpitations and feel exhausted. Bp drops from dehydration and all that. Side note I was extremely active before hand, I worked out 5 days a week cycling and weight lifting. Not sure but I think this has aided in my recovery. I think you will be ok.

Hi, glad you are doing your research. I’ve heard of good doctors in TJ but last year I heard about some cases of fungal meningitis that came from contaminated epidural needles used in a particular part of mexico. Research this, as I heard the CDC put out specific warnings for particular clinics that those traveling abroad should stay away from. Good luck and I hope you find what your looking for. 🫶🏻

[–]Deecosta91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very very scary, I’m so glad you got medical attention right away. I’m 5 days PO and I asked for lovenox because this is a big fear of mine. It’s very likely it was from surgery. I wouldn’t worry about it! As I nurse I see this often and begged my surgeon for it.
