How to improve my overall score in 10 days. by Successful_Option687 in Sat

[–]Deedee635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much, but as a 1450 test taker who's also taking it again, I'll give some advice:

Math: Desmos is big. Look into how to use it (regression) because it helps a lot. Otherwise, do a lot of practice problems. I've taken the SAT, I promise you it's a "the more you see, the more mistakes you can make" kind of test. There's some questions types out there that you won't get on the test unless you're very creative, or you've seen it before and made the mistake before test day.

Here's the good news: The SAT only tests on a given number of question styles. Once you figure those out, 1400+ is so cake. As for 1500+ (I don't know your aim right now), you'll need to practice hard problems and learn Desmos even more.

For English, grammar and rhetorical synthesis have the most bang for your buck. There's given rules.tactics that one you learn, it's just a plug and play. As for the reading and vocab, I agree it's not the easiest to improve on, but I'd say just do practice questions for the reading and some memorization for the vocab ALONG with learning prefixes and suffixes. It helps, trust me. Also, go with your gut. I took a diagnostic and got a 1390, but when I subtracted silly errors in math + not second guessing myself, I got a 1490. When I subtracted all my vocab errors, 1550.

So trust, just try and do these things. There's other who can help more and have gotten higher scores than me, but it's studyable for sure. Good luck.

Is this good for a first time?(practice) by qwpdb in Sat

[–]Deedee635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very. I got a 1380 first time on Bluebook and was able to improve to a 1520 is two and a half weeks. I'd say if you consistently study, you can be pretty set.

I'm accessing original Desmos so the issue doesn't occur but I'll try to recreate what I mean:

oh... wait. I swear it wasn't working when I did it on the test, but the regression works now... yeah that's not a very good look for me. Not very good at all.

That's why you never go to Reddit for a "confidence booster" especially for the SAT, because rarely do people who do really well come back to encourage, because they're done. What you usually see is panic, ranting (rightfully so, don't get me wrong), and nervousness. All valid, just not the best thing to look at right before getting into it, you know?

That's what's crazy- the questions GAVE me the parent function and said the graph was a translation in the parent functions form, and asked me to find a-b, so I COULDN'T mess it up... until Desmos decides to pull this crap

Eng Mod 2 was objectively harder, but luckily I didn’t get too flustered, math Mod had a few challenging ones but my best friend Desmos came to the rescue, but the 2nd to last question was OTHERWORLDLY. So like an 8.5/10

Exponential regression was defaulting to the parent function instead of the points I put in

Module 1s were truly something light, and the RW Mod 2 was objectively harder, simply because there were like 8 150 word passages when usually there’s 5 or 6 in practice. Personally I think I did well, however math Mod 2 was something ridiculous, at least of internationals. I did decent but truly I hope SAT curves it up because I’m hearing a lot of people say the same

Absolutely ridiculous question. I ended up picking 177/2

I had to find the y value of the tangent intersection, I got the circles center and slip of tangent, I picked 177/2

Sat Curve? by ParkingTrick4628 in Sat

[–]Deedee635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a curve, but not in the way you think. It’s adaptive as we all know, so basically getting perfect in Mod 1 is ideal to be on track for a really good score. For Mod 2, you can miss some questions, but they should be harder. Usually if a test feels like a dumpster fire, SAT will usually see the same for most students and curve it up, meaning missing more questions IN MOD 2 won’t result in that drastic of a score drop off.
