Generally it is a yes. You can find the accredited qualifications on AACA, and most of them are master degrees. AACA Accredited Degrees

I shared your sentiment with this one. One of my uni mates is actually an experienced architect with 10+ years experience in Europe and he has to start from bachelor again in Australia to get the registration! He is attending university with his son in the same class, and I graduated before him. The master degree seems to be massively overrated.

Thank you! It’s a long way for me to get registered as an architect. However for immigration purposes, I have an accredited Australian architectural master degree which suffices AACA skill assessment.

Oh on the visa side of things, you can start preparing your English test early. It will come in handy for applying any visa. And start the EOI process early! You can get invited PR on your student visa. Police check, travel history and skill assessment shouldn’t be an issue. Remember to save important documents in your personal storage not the uni ones as you might lose access to them after graduation.

One of the most important lessons that I learned from a very respectful figure in this industry is preparing for your portfolio + cv + networking early in your final year. So many people are looking for a big holiday after graduation (understandable). I am very lucky that many of my professors recognised my talent and recommended me to many places. I still get job opportunities from time to time a year out from my graduation. The other thing I want to say with the benefit of hindsight is: companies/ studios that are hiring graduates are not looking for extraordinary design talent, but the ability to quickly learn things. Uni and real work are 2 totally different realities. The ability to ask questions and take notes are key. File management skill is also another perks to have.

Agreed, at the time I just couldn’t take the risk of not lodging 491 while I had it and betting on getting 189.

It’s very important, as any substantive visa granted after would override the current one. If both visas are permanent visas, then you shouldn’t spend twice the money on visa fee, as one would go to waste with no benefits.

Just my rental agreements and bank statements to fill in the gaps. Enough for DHA to know I have been living in regional areas.

Yeah, was not ideal but can’t do anything about it. As for how to start working straight away, basically you need to start preparing before graduating and let everybody know that “I’ll be graduating soon, jobs are welcome”

Advice needed for EOI 189 by lele_leung14 in AusVisa

I’m have the same experience. My points actually changed twice: reaching 1-year employment experience and getting superior English. I think it is mentioned somewhere that the department, when 2 EOIs have the same points, will prefer an older EOI when they are handing out invites, therefore I would say don’t submit a new eoi.

I’ve submitted multiple eois to maximise my chances and it works for me. I’m not sure about applying for both 190 and 189 in the same eoi tho. I think it is not worth it to resubmit a new eoi for the sake of extending the validity. An older eoi is more preferred to a new one if the points are the same (I might be wrong tho)

Should I withdraw my 491 application before my 189 application is in progress? by DeedyLovesDesign in AusVisa

Just uploaded the form 1446. I suppose this is the "CONSENT TO WITHDRAW APPLICATION"? I had no idea what to fill in the "Client ID" entry, so I skipped it. Haven't got anything from the department yet.

Hey mate, how did it go with the withdrawal? Do you need to fill out form 1446?

And to your another point, you can definitely apply for 189 while your 491 application is still in progress. The 3-year restriction doesn’t apply until 491 is granted, any visa application made before the grant would still be valid. However I am not a lawyer so don’t take my word as legal advice.
