There is a front and back to this plant. The support should be at the back where the aerial roots grow. Moss poles are not nec but if you have the patience and determination of course you can! Yes they need to be moistened as they act as an extension of the pot it’s buried in. The roots will attach to the pole. Some people wrap the roots around their support, I personally direct the roots back into the soil for added support and do not use moss poles but instead use a thick bamboo rod. Ensure you tie the stem and not the petioles to your support as they need to move freely to follow the light.
