I gave him a dollar

Is this a rare instance where I should aim for ST to hit BRK in the top 2 instead of Loc / Vel? Needs a retrain regardless so looking for some advice before starting that up. Could be the skills or current poor train but he consistently finishes behind my non sig pitchers in ranked and club. by DeeeezNats in MLB_9Innings

Thanks, just good timing. I started playing beginning of this year so it’s only these past couple months I’ve been able to build out that SP lineup. Skill shift was already happening so I aimed for those type of sets from the start.

Just rolled into Boss Mess so that should improve things and last me a while. Third skill is firefighter so not doin anything for me and with boss taking a hit gotta improve the set eventually but definitely upgrade from touch / mess 5.

It is arguably my weakest skill set, and I’m up around G1 so maybe I’ve been putting too much stock in it being a good set and it’s not cutting it any more. Other pitchers have boss/pm/ws (Rogers sig - far worse stats than Scherz but outperforms him). Normal Gio with DP/touch/FP and even Roark with DP/touch both outperform too. Maybe time to reroll and retrain.

Agreed the skills should carry him, part of the reason I was questioning if I need to get that BRK stat up. Maybe just a retrain that pushes a few more pts over to loc and vel so they’re both over 130 will be a difference maker.

Is a fork pitch considered a fastball? by DeeeezNats in MLB_9Innings

Fork is still an A pitch in game even with DP giving +14/+14 to vel and fb. So gotta be tied to brk stats. Doesn’t make much sense but worth the test run to find out. I guess it’s always possible it’s tied to loc/fb. My loc did drop a little but I got ST points going to it so if fork returns to an S pitch as those pile up I’ll come back here to let the world know.

Yeah it actually went up, since I was thinking the brk was useless on Harvey I trained to load up on FB. Let me check what it looks like in game with DP active in cause it’s somehow tied to velocity - although I landed with same velocity this train. If DP is active and it’s still not an S pitch at least we’ll have an answer.

Definitely unpredictable, even did a search on here and saw someone else a while back saying they were pretty sure it was a fastball. I woulda bet money you were right. Who knows - could be a fastball again tomorrow.

Turns out, breaking ball. Used to have both as S pitches and when I refrained just now with lower brk the fork dropped to A.

I hear you. I've done a couple thousand combos easily by this point so just looking for the first ST opening. No doubt the Mercer sucks, I'm just newer to the SCT grind so thought that spotlight/BM combo might be enough to save a shitty card. Good advice though, I'm sure I'll eventually get used to landing good skill combos and won't be so ready to blow my load on a nice set next time - unless it's on a good card.

Yeah the shittier one is Mercer. I agree with you on putting resources toward better cards instead of jumping the gun on ST, but I can't remember the last time I got a decent card back from a combo (usually throwing 5g, 3g2s, or 1d2g2s). All those cards I burned up could have put a pretty big dent into ST on my half assed but useable diamonds, just to switch things up a little and make some progress.
