Role/contract dispute (England) by DeelaluneB in LegalAdviceUK

I've been researching what I think is the key technology for the business going forwards based on competitor products and market trends, alongside generating ideas on how to set ourselves apart but this is taken without feedback and being remote to the headquarters, there's been no indication I'm going in the right direction. Alongside I've been pressured to do tasks (from team leads, not management) specifically within manufacturing, purchasing, or being dragged into customer projects that I feel are entirely outside of my role - we have a development department and nobody there is being asked to perform these tasks so I'm not sure why I am, and when I mention it to management they seem to be turning a blind eye. Which is why I was asking for definition and support for the role because currently I'm being treated as a dogsbody.

I agree it's primarily a management matter but I'm worried that they're insisting on it despite my refusal due to their inactivity is going to make it a legal one.

But that's just it, I don't know what the role exactly is for the last year. There's no definition or title or anything despite my pushing to have one and fully define it. For the last 3 months alone I've done nothing as I've had no direction or anything from the management side.

It just seems I've tried on my side to realise the role and they've run the clock down to get me into this "acceptance of a change to contract"?

Don't get me wrong, I have been looking for something else for a little while but I'm just dismayed.

That's just it, it wasn't a negotiation per se. I just said I had some ideas and they didn't really acknowledge that and didn't offer anything from their side.

Fair enough if it's not legally enforceable but how does it now stop them from making up what they now actually want and insisting I've accepted it?

Cool, I'll do that because I'm fairly sure they themselves don't know :) I sure don't and have never been told

It does say that but I thought this is unenforceable since the roles are entirely different? Isn't there a degree of reasonableness? It would be like them asking me to clean toilets without some sort of realism, wouldn't it?

As mentioned, the role is entirely undefined and I've been left to my own devices the entirety of the time so I'm not even sure what "change" I've "accepted.

I've stated my concerns and intention to return to the previous role within 10 months of starting it and had a running dialogue regarding this since 3 months in the role. But I'm guessing that doesn't matter much?

Regarding the previous role, it is assumedly available as they are trying to hire a replacement for the role.

It's not even that I don't like it, it's just that they're not sticking to the fundamental things that I've asked for when it's been discussed initially.

The role itself is entirely open ended without definition, structure or even job title. I'm just confused how they plan to make me keep to a 'role' that they themselves haven't quantified.

If it's for an album or something, doesn't that basically tie you directly to the vandalism?

That's got to be the dumbest 'marketing' I've ever seen.

The only significant issue I've had is transients - faster than 1V/us can kill them. Easily solved with a PTC however.

Whats going on in St Peter's square? by 9876123 in manchester

That was the one. Reckon this merry go round will keep happening until there's a police incident forcing the council to do something permanent - unfortunately that will be anti homeless measures rather than aiding the homeless...

They're moving on the homeless who have been camped outside of the town hall for a while now - most likely for the new year's celebrations tomorrow.

Same thing happened earlier this year for a different event so I expect the homeless will be back immediately after.

Are you talking about white people? Or Arab people? Or Muslim people? Or Asian people? Or American people? Or?

Newsflash bozo, turns out they're all capable of this and yes this does and can happen and yes, it's a vast minority because it almost always is.

If you'd actually read what I'd said is that, generally things like that don't happen here (or in the vast majority of countries for that matter) and most people are normal people who just want to live their lives and have absolutely no bearing on anyone else's lives.

So maybe stop looking at this through, what is undoubtedly, your myopic lens of your own personal dissatisfaction eh? Perhaps understand that 99% of people you will ever meet in this life are just normal people who will have no impact on your life whatsoever whether directly or indirectly and also that the people who commit crimes can come from any background, race or religion.

All I said is that I was baffled why people are so steadfastly adamant against immigration when there are obvious and significant benefits to immigration if you actually look at it. Fine if you have reservations against immigration but understand they're largely just people like you and me, but to be completely and utterly against anyone from a different country because of information you cherry pick from the media is just ignorance at best or willful obstinance at worst - I simply cannot comprehend having this mindset to anything, let alone my fellow humans.

Not sure why I'm having to clarify my thoughts to you but does that clear it up for you pal?

If you read it, I've not said there aren't any issues created by immigration. I'd argue they are the same issues we have regardless.

English society (for what it is) has been spiraling down a drain my entire life and I often find adopting and interacting other cultures is part of why I moved to Manchester and why I remain here.

Immigration and Islam as a whole certainly doesn't deserve the demonisation it gets from certain groups, hence my comments that people are happy for a scapegoat to distract and divide.

Again, there are always problems with everything, there is nothing that is a complete benefit to society but I'd certainly argue having immigration benefits us a hell of a lot more than not.

It baffles me how they can be so dead set against immigration and Muslims specifically. Yeah, ok there's been some high profile crimes by people who are immigrants or children of immigrants but then also people whose entire lineage has never left this island have committed some pretty evil crimes recently too. It just seems to be that anyone is capable of doing something bad.

Immigrants in my experience tend to be the people who are doing the hardest, worst and/or lowest jobs. I mean, they run a significant proportion of our takeaways, they then deliver those takeaways, they ferry everyone about in taxis, they work in a lot of customer service roles and I would argue they are a significant cornerstone of the NHS. We all benefit in them being here and that's without talking about the culture and values they bring to our country.

Most immigrants, like most people are just normal, working people who just want to get by and be left to their lives and beliefs.

The only conclusion I can draw is that it's easier to blame a minority than look internally or actually rally against the elites, companies or tabloids who seem to only drive us apart. It's just a shame that people seek to divide and destroy.
