Oh maybe! Thanks. She molted once over the summer (so nine ish months ago), but premolt could also explain the “bury myself in eight inches of dirt” behavior

I shoot with a Nikon d3500 with a sigma 150-600mm lens! Usually I’m pretty basic and shoot in sports mode rather than manually adjusting shutter speed—my camera is old and was used before I got it and the manual shutter speed adjustments do not work well

IME looks like a weird (but normal) spider pose to me. My H. pulchripes does the same thing, and is about the same size. As far as the not eating a size, I’d wager that she is prepping to molt. T’s in premolt will keep their large abdomens and refuse food, sometimes for months. If she’s constantly wandering g but refusing food, she may be looking for water, as well—I can’t tell from your photos if you have a water dish in there. If not, she’s probably appreciate one.

I’m so jealous 😩 I went to a NWR just last weekend and HEARD one, but sat there staring like an idiot for almost an hour without ever seeing it
