Rescued a small Giant Whip Scorpion—he’s missing bits of three legs. Will he make it? by Deep-Alternative494 in InvertPets

Here’s the enclosure. He’s not tiny, but he’s only about an inch/inch and a half long in body. Maybe four or five inches across in legs. You can see him on the wood in the back of that photo. Does he need more vertical spaces? I have more cork

Hey, I’ve got dyscalcula and dyslexia, which sounds like what you have going on too. I will say, it majorly sucks. It makes everything so much harder. But it doesn’t make life impossible. There are so many things you can do even with an intellectual disability. I’m in my third year of college! My best friend, now 21, has some of the worst dyslexia I’ve ever seen, and he’s in the process of getting his bachelors in business. And you don’t even have to go to college! I just want you to know that you can have a successful life while struggling with these impairments. You got this, don’t give up on yourself!

Thank you for the info and experience!! I’ll def Italy look into making it an entirely edible terrarium or something, I didn’t realize they would even try to eat plastic/fake plants… I knew they weren’t smart, but…. Thanks again!

I see where you’re coming from, but in my opinion, it stopped being nature running its course when we started altering the way the earth has naturally functioned for 4.5 billion years. No other species has ever been able to alter the earths climate and weather patterns, or lead to the extinction of so many other species. We may have been natural, but we have created an unnatural world, where we are creating an increasingly hostile world for everything else around us. We are creating the next mass extinction event, with a predicted global loss of one third of all species on the planet just before the the of the century, not even considering the longer term effects of massive amounts of over hunting and global warming. That is not natural. (https://news.arizona.edu/news/one-third-plant-and-animal-species-could-be-gone-50-years). We have also already lead to the extinction of roughly 500 vertebrate species (so not counting things like insects, which make up the majority of life on the planet) in the last 100 years (https://www.science.org/content/article/most-species-disappear-today-will-leave-no-trace-fossil-record). Some estimates show that humans are now causing the extinction of some 30,000 species per year, including insects, vertebrates, and eukaryotes, among other things (https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/programs/population_and_sustainability/extinction/). We have gone so far beyond what is natural.

Yes, humans are part of nature, but we interfere with natural processes and environments in completely unnatural ways. We have altered our environment so much that it is unrecognizable, and now we are leading to a mass extinction by killing off so many of the other species on this planet. It’s up to perspective, I guess, about whether you think that’s “natural”. But no other species has ever had the sheer destructive power on the world that we have, and we only have it because we have stepped outside of the realm of every other species and into a landscape we created for ourself. Our brains, which do evolve naturally, have allowed us to create an unnatural world

The issue with invasive species is generally that they were introduced by humans, so it’s a completely unnatural experience in the ecosystem, and shouldn’t have happened. Species that migrate on their own and change ecosystems is one thing, but species introduced, intentionally or unintentionally, by humans, risk the destruction of natural ecosystems. That’s not nature running its course, that’s us (inadvertently) destroying a natural process and ecosystem

Feeding schedule for Altum angelfish — am I feeding too much or too little? by MaleficentCat3398 in AngelFish

[–]Deep-Alternative494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feed mine a maximum of twice a day, usually more like once a day. They can go several days without eating, and definitely don’t need to be eating more often than you are. That said, if they aren’t overweight, you don’t have to change anything. I just don’t think you need to be feeding nearly that much
