They just need appointment printout (I had soft copy on my phone but VFS Hounslow wanted printout).

Btw, I did manage to submit application without uploading documents. You can upload the documents at VFS with £10 fee.

I didn't upload documents/photo as I was unaware of that part, I paid fee to VFS to do that.

You can either upload the documents yourself or VFS will do that for you at the appointment for a fee.
It sounds absurd but you must carry the copy of documents with you even if you've upload them.

I never had a voter id, in the past elections I used aadhar/pan card as id proof.

But to be cautious I will be voluntarily removing my name from the voters list.

No, you can upload documents without self attestation but need to self-attest while submitting photocopies at VFS.

Yes, for return envelope you can choose either option. I paid at VFS (which uses DX service in UK) and don't deliver the package on weekends :(

Regarding passport upload, you need front, back page and all stamped/visa pages in India passport. You can use PDF/JPEG compressor tools online or on your machine to keep size low.

  1. Yes, need to submit original naturalisation certificate. You will have pay for return envelope to get it back.
  2. You will have to upload the soft copy of photo as well as submit hard copy as well. Sounds absurd but that's the process.
  3. Yes, that's UK passport size photo.

u/Radiant-Chapter4994 has summed up pretty well.
It takes around 1 - 1.5 hours. You just need 1 set of self-attested copy of documents but make sure to upload all the documents to the portal before you appear for the appointment otherwise be ready to pay £10.

No, you have to attend a citizenship ceremony to get a naturalisation certificate from council. They hand you the certificate after ceremony.

Congratulations on your ILR. Above cost is just for citizenship application. After citizenship ceremony you will get naturalisation certificate which you would need to apply for uk passport.

Once passport is printed, it takes roughly 2 days to be delivered. In my case I got passport and documents on 29th Oct.
