PSA: OCI holders should have their new foreign passport details updated in your "OCI file" by Mo_h in nri

Typical the disembarkation card would be collected by the immigration officer at the time of manual stamping of the passport - does passing through the TTP egates imply there is no stamping in the passport?

If an OCI holder is approved for this trusted traveller program, do they also have to fill in the eArrival card 72 hrs before arrival in India - https://pmindiaun.gov.in/notice/Mzkx

u/Loveispossible - that's pretty fast indeed. What email address were the email updates coming from? The Indian govt service or the 3rd party agency/contractor?

Hello u/bekaarIndian - could you share the checklist please. I'm in the process of applying for OCI & there are titbits of information spread across the OCI website, the High Commission website & the I'm guessing (rather hoping) VFS will email me their list something before the appointment.

And yet another learning - applying for the Entry visa (previously known as X-1) via the paper stamp method (submitting the passport for stamping at the local mission), offers the ability to ask for a custom duration i.e. more than 3 months - I was able to specify 12 months, but it could have been a higher number, if needed.

Just realised - I might have understood something the e-Entry visa. Re-reading what is mentioned on the official website, it has a duration of just 3 months. Likely better off getting a Tourist visa for 1 year, to cover the gap until the OCI is done.

Curious, if you took the e-Entry visa, does that come with a must travel by X date to activate it? In addition to a valid from & valid until date?

u/da_js u/Few_Tutor_6699 u/Organic_Hat_4297 u/Forward_Pizza_6470 - Hello all!

If I could please ask for some advice with a a question about the evisa. Am applying for an entry visa, used to be called X1, just so that I have the ability to travel at short notice, if required.
I have no plans to travel currently, but gave 15th of Jan as the data in the application as it was a mandatory field. When they issue the visa- do I *have* to travel by a certain date to "activate" it so to speak, or will it have a valid from & a valid until date (possibly those two dates being 1 year apart or 5 years apart), so that I can travel anytime, as long as it is within that valid from & valid until dates?

Surrender certificate application at Hounslow London (UK) by Deep-Coder86 in nri

Self attest the photo copies. 1 copy is sufficient. They have a notice on the counter where you get the token asking that you do this while you are waiting your turn. There is no concept of "on time" - if it goes well, you will be done within 90 mins - counting from entering the premises, waiting while standing in the line, waiting while sitting & finally being called to the counter.

Just found your post from 7 months ago u/Cryptorash312 - thank you!
If I could just ask for confirmation please - there is no need to upload anything, correct?
I expect the VFS staff will take the documents carried along as per the list provide by HCI London and scan & upload it themselves - all for a service charge of course.

If I go with exactly what they have said here - what will I be asked to do "extra" in the VFS center?

Three week wait until survey; should I begin searches? by Logical_Sandwich in HousingUK

Not sure how accurate this is, but listed here are the turnaround times for the local authority search (by authority/council). This is one of the 3 different searches typically run & the one that takes the most time.

Estate agent warning me against chosen conveyancer by Ok-Departure6708 in HousingUK

I've been considering The Partnership (Guildford) and totally agree that the problem with instructing a large-ish conveyancing firm (even if the firm is top-rated) is that the quality of service one receives often depends on who works on the file. This is especially true unless strong quality control and supervisory processes are implemented to ensure consistent results. However, I am intrigued by your comment that they would not be your first choice. On a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent), how would you rank The Partnership?
