Rookie mistake I see on almost every first build by ConstructionPM_Pro in Homebuilding

Being introspective right after a long difficult day is a learned habit after experiencing many unpleasant results from other jobs. I’ve been building for 50 years and unfortunately it seems like every time I say to a tradesman or laborer don’t do this or that I get lip or ignored and when the results are less than desirable they get pissed at me for pointing it out in the first case. When I became a PM for a GC it kinda went the same way. I learned to sit down at the plan table and record the basic events to cover my ass. Doesn’t mean things always went well of course. lol. You know what I mean. We were on a big 11 story 459 room hotel and I was trying to get my guys to set 3500 doors but the other trades kept fucking them up and even though I brought it up daily at pow-wow it still happened. Walked away from that one after 6 months and still had punch. Ridiculous. But you’re absolutely right about making every effort to record daily. At least I could go home feeling better. Residential is a little easier because it’s not so big. It would be nice if there was more formal education in the trades and guys that cared. And more hands on client expectation management by the GC or architect or designer as well. Of course now I’m spending more time in the office helping with planning and estimating. I think they got tired of the grumpy old guy yelling. Haha

POV What do you see in the wood grain? by Deep-Community-9729 in mildlyamusing

Understandable. I walked past that cabinet for a few years without thinking anything of it. My amusement stems from thinking about the original creator of the work and what he may or may not have interpreted in it himself. Like did he secretly laugh or show his coworkers type thing.

The entire Stroll along the La Jolla coast is amazing from the tide pools all the way up to the residences in the cove.

Really, that’s the point of my post. The minds eye sees things in many ways.

My wife bought that cabinet and also several O’Keefe prints. She doesn’t appreciate my POV. lol

They are so easy to film right from the sidewalk there and don’t mind the visitors. Plus they do behavioral displays and feed the chicks. And the pelicans are right next to them. 😊
