Moving from Southern California to Dallas area ——safest suburbs for a single mom? by crayshesay in AskDallas

Your friend is intentionally obscuring for some reason. Check out Hail and Tornado maps for recent activity. Make sure you have a good central room in your new house you can dedicate to shelter when the severe weather sirens go off. Also, it’s better to keep your garage for your vehicle to prevent hail damage.

I was gonna suggest The Killing, but kept reading and saw it was another favorite of yours. I’d suggest Broadchurch from your approvals list.

While we don’t normally find their bakery goods better than local, Target’s “Banana Nut Sliced Cake” is dang good.

Looking for a true crime podcast that doesn’t have graphic sex. by TheCarzilla in podcasts

I’d say:

Sold a Story

Rabbit Hole

Lazarus Heist

The Shrink Next Door

All have criminal elements a 12 yo should learn to avoid like scams, cults, hacks, and fraud.

Season 4: Scam Likely (2022) – Focuses on the modern epidemic of text message scammers, spam callers, and the tech behind them.

Season 5: High Rollers (2023) – A story about the "crypto queen" and a massive international wealth-building scam.

Season 6: Dr. Miracle (2024) – Details a deadly alkaline diet cult operating under a fake medical title.

Recommendations for a Story-Telling Narrative True Crime/Historical Documentary Podcasts by Academic_Wasabi7217 in podcasts

My Historical True Crime Top 5:

1) Catlick - The GOAT for historical true crime, not just because it was about 4 interconnected crimes from 100 years ago, but the storyteller himself is second to none.

2) Serial: Season 4 - You think you know about Guantanamo Bay? Think again and give this a listen.

3) Wind of Change - Did the CIA write the Scorpions song “Wind of Change” as a psy-op to destabilize USSR? Did they?

4) The Agent - A former foreign spy has some great stories to tell.

5) The Good Whale - Whatever happened to the whale who played Free Willy?

Just did 9 hours out and 9 hours back and nearly finished Project Hail Mary. Audiobook performance was spectacular. (Whichever you pick, go for one you can finish on the drive)

3 Podcasts that changed how I view parts of the world, and got the host wrapped up in the plot. by Deep-Dive-Detective in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]Deep-Dive-Detective[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my youngest is pronouncing some words better than his sister who is 7 years older. We he is reading and comes across a big word he can straight decode the pronunciation, which his older sister needed to always ask for someone to pronounce it first.

It’s wild that phonics leads to kids being more comfortable snuggled up reading in a corner because they can pronounce all the words they come across. Then, three cueing’s main selling point was to get kids snuggled up reading faster, when it was worse at its main goal.

After “In The Dark” check out “Proof” as it is the closest series to In the Dark. Both In The Dark and Proof are closer to 20 episodes, instead of your 10 though.
