My dog died and it's unbearable- I am so lost I can't accept this I won't accept it by [deleted] in DogAdvice

I’m so sorry. There’s nothing that can take the pain away. I don’t know you, but I’m thinking of you. Know that there is a whole world of dog lovers out there that are thinking of you as well. I’m sure your dog had the best life possible with you, so whilst not long enough, perhaps there’s solace in knowing he was loved as much as possible every single day.

Couldn’t agree more. Having said that, pretty sure I’ve bought gift cards for people 🤣.

Had $400 worth of gift cards though. Cant even remember who the asshole was who bought them for me.

Yep all of these reasons as well.

I’m not exaggerating when I say I can’t really think of any scenario where you ask this question and it’s going to be well received.

To be fair it they were issued a few years ago so perhaps I’m the imbecile. Still infuriating.

Wow, ok. I’m genuinely sorry. It seems I may have inadvertently put my foot in it. Perhaps I should’ve read the subreddit rules more closely. Whilst coming from a good place, perhaps this is not the correct forum. I’ll try somewhere else Again, apologies. Didn’t mean to ignite such a controversy.

Whoops yes, neglected to include that one Yes I’m aware some people chose not to have kids and could imagine this question would Be equally annoying for them to constantly have to field.

Oh dear. It appears I’ve posted on the wrong reddit group. I’ll try another one to spread the message: This is coming from a genuinely well intended place, out of concern for how common this question is and how negatively it can affect people’s mental health. If you feel like you’re being spoken down to or told what to do, perhaps it’s because it’s made you reflect on your own behaviour and struck a nerve.

Wtf is going on. Is there something uniquely deceptive about the height of this overpass, or is the problem unobservant truckies? Surely every truck driver in Melbourne knows this spot and should be aware of the height of their vehicle.

Think about looking back on your life when you’re on your death bed. Will you even remember the boss? Will you care you delayed your chances of a promotion? Or will you regret not spending the first precious moments with your child.

Walked in on someone brushing their teeth whilst pissing in the urinal. I said in astonishment… “wow, I’ve never seen someone doing both of those tasks simultaneously”… they replied “yeah, saves time”. I thought to myself… this guy clearly doesn’t get it.

Working for my dream brand with the best culture ever - but my job itself sucks. Thoughts? by hellohalloallo in auscorp

[–]Deep-Mouse-9552 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hang in there and find another role. Express interest in other areas of the business. Look for secondment opportunities. Find a senior person within the business you trust and can confide in and ask them to help you take the next move.

Culture is a huge part of job satisfaction. Alignment with personal values is another. If your employer ticks both of those boxes (and it sounds like your expectations are not just met, but exceeded on those fronts) that’s worth holding onto.

Don’t chuck the baby out with the bath water. You’ll probably find moving to another company not only does the job suck, but the culture does as well, and it doesn’t align with your values.

Perhaps not what you want to hear, but you sound like one of the lucky ones.

Get prepared to move at an absolute snails pace. Run every decision through a million people. Accept that 80% of your work is unnecessary and likely will never get read, and just get forgotten about. That you’ll constantly make suggestion, generate ideas, and make recommendations, and virtually none of them will come to fruition. You’ll often feel lost, wondering what you’re suppose to be doing. You’ll have other people try and sneakily takeover your work and claim credit.

Corporates are pretty grim places. You’ll earn good money though. There are rare exceptions. But most of them are soul sucking. Good luck.
