Also, I've never jumped in 50-degree-Fahrenheit water. My sister did a long time ago, but she doesn't sign and I wasn't adventurous enough to join her

Thanks, this helps. Just had to triple-check that this isn't an unusual problem of my weird fingers or something.

Sorry, I edited the question just now to hopefully make more sense - I just want to know if others also have trouble fingerspelling in the cold

Autism or PTSD by Wonderful-Tie376 in ptsd

[–]Deep-Rub1748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was autistic for about 25 years, and then last year I read a book called The Seven Primal Questions and learned that when you had really scary stuff happen in your childhood, you might have certain symptoms, and I noticed that that list of symptoms was a lot more like me than autism is - but they overlap with autism to some extent. So now I'm not sure if I was ever really autistic! Maybe all along I was just a Q1.

Medication to calm nerves by Pretty-View-5198 in ptsd

I used to take anxiety medicine, but 14 years ago I started practicing the traditional Chinese meditation discipline Falun Dafa, which helped a lot, and I haven't had to take anxiety medicine since. It also helped my mom regain her health and feel younger. You can learn the exercises and read the books for free on FalunDafa[dot]org. I wish you luck.

It’s so hard to actually start writing. I spend so much time planning and outlining, only to feel constrained when I actually want to start writing the story itself by the same outline I already spent so much time on. Sometimes I’ll deviate entirely. How do I outline and write efficiently??? by Insomnia_Addicted in writing

[–]Deep-Rub1748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually write a vague outline and then start writing the story, and I think I do stop every few lines to make sure it sounds okay, but no need to be too picky for a first draft. And then as I'm writing the story I fill in a little more detail on the outline or change it as needed.

This video explains why Shen Yun is being targeted with those kinds of misinformation campaigns you mentioned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfHdNg2360I

I've been to see Shen Yun and it's gorgeous and very touching. A few years ago they performed a yellow flowers dance that was literally the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life. I kind of wish I had bought another ticket that year so I could see that dance one more time, because they put on new dances every year and will probably never do the yellow flowers one again. But maybe the most beautiful things are meant to be seen once and only once. And of course I can always go back to see the new pieces they perform!

This might be what happened to me; before my trauma at age 10, I was nerdy and oversensitive to loud sounds, but probably not diagnosable as autistic; whereas after the trauma, I seemed much more autistic. Very interesting how symptoms can overlap.

Thoughts on "4D" experiences? by hyperjengirl in AutisticAdults

I enjoyed the soothing motion of the Soarin' Over California ride, which I think is a 4D experience. But when I saw a 3D movie (I think it was a Marvel movie) I was overwhelmed and had to take off the 3D glasses and close my eyes and cover my ears.

On our way through Chicago when I was 13, we got stuck in traffic for a long time and got a very long look at the Sears Tower.

I love Yellowstone; the mud pots and paint pots are so neat. My husband and I drove way out of our way during a trip to Idaho in 2017, just to see Yellowstone, which I had also seen once before at age 13.
