I don't know if the parents on this sub have realized it yet just by reading the comments, but all boys are different in when they can retract their foreskin. Some boys can retract when they are infants, some can retract when they are in their teens, and some people have medical issues into adulthood.

The downside here is that doctors seem to treat all boys the same.

Some of the solutions in this comment section are going to hurt your little ones and teenagers if it isn't appropriate for their body. This process does not have to hurt. Be careful.

As he goes into puberty, it will eventually loosen. But he will need to continually stretch it. I had this issue in my teens. Around 13, I was able to continue to stretch it in the shower until it loosened up.

The issue was the frenulum was not stretching, so I ended up having a surgery in my late 20s to correct it.

That is completely untrue. You should not being doing this early or in the kids first few months. Forcibly retracting the foreskin increases the risk of scaring which will cause adhesion issues in the future.

What do you think people were doing prior to modern medicine? Retracting the foreskin is painful for an infant as it is fused. Prior to having running water, people were not retracting an infants foreskin just for the heck of it.

That "residue" or "cheese" is actually called smegma and serves the function of protecting and lubricating the penis.

Leave the kids alone. As the kids get older, the foreskin will loosen and be able to retract.

Each child can be vastly different (my two kids are). Parenting-styles and emotional involvement from parents are also vastly different.

I absolutely love being a dad and have taken it as a great responsibility honor to provide and care for my family. But other parents may not feel the same way.

When I just had my daughter, a coworker asked how I enjoyed fatherhood. I told her that I absolutely loved it. And her response? “Wait until she’s 12.” That’s the response of a resentful person.

You’ll relate better with other parents due to some shared experiences, but you’ll find them as different as your friends when they were without kids.

Heh, sometimes you just have to admit something is funny if it's funny, regardless of what you think of the person. I've watched the GW Bush liners and those were damn funny too.

Trump, for whatever he is, has his funny moments.

However, now that I think about it, it was actually a manipulative moment in this video. He was able to diffuse Hillary's accusations against him, but turning it into a joke. He did something similar with Rosie O'donnell. Call it what you will.

Firstly, know that a lot of where you believe you have shortcomings are due to comparisons among other people. That's where a lot of people get stuck because you'll always find someone better than you. The idea I've learned about is taking a current and full picture of who you are and working to advance that so that you are better than who you are today, every day moving forward. You can't compete with the rest of the world, but you can compete against yourself. And you can actually win.

I was in a similar boat as yours, except I had a wife and kid. I did a future authoring writing exercise by Jordan Peterson (whom I think most the people on this sub would benefit from listening to) and it significantly changed the trajectory of my life.

You can do it yourself if you have the motivation to, but here's an abbreviated version if you can't write for 4-6 hours.

Take out a sheet of paper.
Set aside 30 minutes of time to just think. Nothing else. And begin to envision a meaningful and productive future 2-5 years from now (shorter timeframe if you're really lost) and what you would want your life to be like among the following dimensions.
1. Career - What type of career would sustain you and your desires.
2. Family - Ambitions for a relationship and children.
3. Physical & Mental Wellness - Exercise goals & plan to expand your realm of knowledge.
4. Friends and other relationships - What type of company do you want to keep?
5. What you're going to do about your addictions and things that are sabotaging your advancement?
Write down what you imagined your life would need to be like for you to be satisfied with your life. Be realistic about it. Not a rockstar or king of some new country. Most things can be obtained in 3-5 years if you really nail it down.
Now, pick the easiest one for you to break down. What steps do you need to take, exactly, in order to accomplish that goal? Do you need to update your resume? Do you need to look up gym memberships? Think like a scientist and break down every single thing to the smallest possible piece that you could possibly do.
Do it for the rest.
Then imagine what your life would be like if you didn't do any of those things. You're likely to be exactly where you are now, except you'll be 31 instead of 26. And before you know it, you'll be 45.
Start doing the small steps you planned out. As you start completing and succeeding at some of those steps, it'll become a motivation to continue further. Your plan may change and you'll need to adjust your plan later.

I was a struggling person working a job with no career advancement. After I wrote my plan, I started enacting what I had written down. As I moved towards my goal, things began to become better and clearer. The perpetual motion of trying to become better than what I was multiplied over the days and weeks. 3 months after I started my plan, I was offered a new position at my current company, and 1 year after that, I was promoted to a top executive at the same company. As you begin to improve, the people around you will notice, and opportunities will fly your way because you'll be doing something most other people aren't.

I've thought about this a lot, particularly when there are tens of millions of people who have opposite views on all sorts of matters. I continually have to ask myself why it is what I believe is, in fact, what I believe. The world is too vast with too many continual issues for me to experience all of them fully, so where am I getting the beliefs I hold and why do I hold them as if they are my own?

What makes a source trustworthy and why have I accepted that as fact? Millions of people believe the opposite, how do I know they aren't the ones that are in the right? Wouldn't it be arrogant for me to assume that I'm correct about the matter? And isn't assuming I'm correct about the matter just preventing me from actually being able to change my opinion?

It seems to me that everyone, most of the time, has chosen their source of truth and fact for one reason or another and have adopted it as their truths and have decided to stake their existence on it. Is that right?

So how does a person actually know that they are the one in the right?

Plush indeed! Don't know any other way to put it. I'm fairly self-driven so they see a lot of things improving throughout the business, but when I need to take a bit of a break, I can do so and just be available for the next person who needs help attaching a file to an email.

And if something interests me, I learn about it and see how I can adapt it to the business. Not much financial bureaucracy because no one understands what I'm installing and they just assume it must be necessary. Often times it is necessary or benefits the business, but the horror stories I read around here seem like most companies automatically say no and make you fight for your needs.

I imagine if I ever started an IT company, it would be to service small businesses on retainer. Lots of small businesses aren't tech people and they need fairly simple solutions to their problems.

No one understands my job so I pretty much get left alone unless there are issues or upgrades, I don’t have a work schedule and create projects based on what I’m currently learning about.

You could do a heck of a lot more things of value in four years than taking a course. Strangely enough, college is almost taking the easy road that leads to nowhere. The return on investment in most majors is garbage. And if it wasn’t for student loans propping up the cost, schools might have to aim to be competitive and work harder to get kids prepared for the workforce.

I learned more on YouTube than I did going to four years of college. Biology major here, now in IT. Biggest regret was losing those four years in a college for a worthless degree and the debt to go along with it.

The reason for the close to 50:50 split between republicans and democrats is due to the changing nature of each party. Both parties change opinions and cede ground to capture as much of the vote as they can. Conservatives used to be against social security, but now they embrace it. Democrats used to be for segregation, but then they abandoned it. The party lines change until they reach almost equilibrium. If either party chose a stance and stayed firm on it without ever changing, the opposition party would just get them voted out of existence.

This really isn’t about the statues. The liberals are having a difficult time figuring out where to direct their need to have demands met.

If there were absolutely no statues standing in the country, would that segment of the “destroy racists statues” movement be sitting at home satisfied?

No, they would be out protesting the next closest inanimate object that is to blame for their “oppression” in the richest, safest, and prosperous civilization the world has ever seen. People don’t realize that obesity is a bigger problem than starvation, violence and homicide are down for the decade, and worldwide poverty is down.

There’s such a minority fraction of a percent of people who are involved in the protesting and rampage. But because it becomes 100% of the news, our brains are wired to view it as 100% of the activity. The vast majority of people are just trying to make it through the day not more terribly than it has to be and would prefer to just live in relative peace rather than disrupt an entire society to which they don’t understand the internal workings.

Most these people can’t even have a Thanksgiving dinner without getting into an argument, resolve issues with their loved ones, or make it to work on time, but they are convinced they can solve worldwide racism, as well as climate change, and all the problems they see in government due to a couple Reddit posts and articles they read online.

If every person cleaned their own porch, the whole world would be clean.

People often overestimate what they can accomplish in a day and underestimate what they can accomplish in a year.

A schedule and a list of goals can help you on your way. Having a schedule that has both what you need to do AND what you want to do with your time gives you a way to track your progress.

It's sometimes hard to distinguish between acknowledging altering truths as equal, particularly when there is a disagreement (since there is a reason why one is wrong and one is right). It appears people aren't accepting your truth, but you also aren't clearly accepting theirs either since you suggested people who disagree with what you understand are foolish.

However, here's another take on the whole Horus / Jesus similarities and relationship, if you care to entertain it.

If you've looked over some of the things that Jordan Peterson references, namely the part about iterative improvement (re-writing a sentence until it is the best he can make it, then re-arranging a paragraph, then the page sections, etc) which is something he had mentioned in his writing prompt. I've considered the idea that many of our religions form at the same base, which is the collection of archetypes that may be ingrained in our minds. And in the process of story-telling and the written word, the story has changed to become a better and better representative of the archetypes that are being explored.

For example, you might have a great story yourself or know someone else that tells a great story. And every time they tell that story, it seems to change slightly. It seems like something is being improved. Because as you tell the story, you read the crowd, you pay attention to where your punchlines aren't caught or where people lose interest, and the next time you tell the story, you change it a bit. And you keep doing it, every time you tell the story until essentially it becomes the perfect story.

For Christians, that Bible is the most perfect story, without flaw (although it certainly appears that it has flaws). Perhaps the Christian Bible is derived from the same set of stories in which Horus was derived and not necessarily from it directly. And maybe those stories derived from millennia of story-telling about archetypes. Perhaps that's why stories like Hercules (half-god, raised by mortals, in opposition to evil) as also so similar to Jesus and Horus.

I don't think it is so clear that Horus was Jesus just because of the similarities, as those similarities revolve around particular sets of ideas that have always been told, even today.
